Assistant Public Works Director

Recruitment Description:

The City of Ellensburg has a vacancy for an Assistant Public Works Director. This is a non-union, FLSA exempt position. The person in this position will effectively administer operations of the Street, Shop and Warehouse divisions and the Water and Wastewater utilities.

Will perform a variety of supervisory, administrative, and technical duties in the planning, construction, operation, repair and maintenance of City Streets, Shop, Water and Wastewater facilities and systems. In the absence of the Public Works & Utilities Director, the employee may assume responsible control of the Public Works & Utilities Department.

The position requires residency within 20 minutes response time of City Shop.

Salary: $6,877 - $9,169/month and a generous benefit package including Personal Time Off (PTO) Leave, Holidays, Employee Choice Days (ECD) and Exempt Leave.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college; and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Thorough knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in street and vehicle maintenance systems; water and wastewater systems; knowledge of sewer pipe installation, connection and repair; knowledge of water pipe installation, connection and repair; knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance; knowledge of water systems, wells, reservoir, and distribution system.

Special Requirements:

Valid State driver’s license and maintain insurable driving record. First Aid and CPR Certification.
