Your work will have real-world impact, and you'll be supported in achieving your career goals.Location/Division Specific InformationSpecial Diagnostics GroupHow will you make an impact?An outstanding opportunity for a Systems Software Engineer with Immunodiagnostic Division (IDD), working with highly complex and fully integrated diagnostic automation systems used in hospitals and laboratories. In this role, you will be part of a small team that has the opportunity to support our customers with instrumentation, middleware, and their network. Within this team, your ideas and suggestions for new software, hardware, configurations, and security needs will be valued and carried out to improve and protect the user experience. The team will also create innovative tools and procedures for the Phadia Laboratory System which will be used by our Field Service Engineers, Technical Support teams, and customers.

What will you do?

Systems software validation and documentation, testing, troubleshooting, programming, developing procedures, performing software upgrades, and recommending complete laboratory workflow automation processes

Lead new implementations of mainframe interfaces, remote diagnostics approvals and installations, and Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) system integrations

Provide onsite and remote service/systems engineering training and support to Laboratory LIS/IT, Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET), or advanced operators

Develop turnkey scripting to simplify and standardize installation processes with different models of computer operating systems software for computer replacements and software upgrades to support Phadia Laboratory Systems

Design and implement network/system architecture for current and future Phadia Laboratory Systems, specifically for larger commercial and regional laboratories, that may require a system to meet today's Enterprise requirements

Execute technical presentations and installations of Phadia LabCommunity, Remote Diagnostics and Utilization Data Reporting System. Work closely with the customer's IT/LIS personnel, laboratory Manager, Information Security teams, and Sales Account Executives

Evaluate and propose improvements for computer hardware architecture, system requirements, and networking solutions based on the technical specifications of Phadia Laboratory Systems and security standards

Must often interact and work with Field Service Engineers (FSE), in-person and remotely, to better improve systems performance through product support and software development, including the creation of detailed instruction guides for software installations and/or corrections, as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Code of Federal Regulations governing these interactions may include, among others: 21CFR 820.100 CAPA; 21CFR820.200 Servicing; 21CFR 820.70 Product & Process Controls; 21CRF 820.75 Process Validation; 21CFR 820.86 Acceptance Status; 21CFR 820.170 Installation

Ensure complete and compliant documentation of all service or support actions performed on instrumentation or equipment within the Service System Software (ServiceMax) according to SOPs

Continually strive for development within yourself and peers to increase the overall effectiveness of the department, products, and company to drive growth and success upon the goals set within the ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific

How will you get here?Education and Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesBachelor of Science degree with 1-3 years of work experience preferred, experience with medical devices or within the hospital/healthcare environment is a plus

Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and be able to interface with customers in a positive, patient, and professional manner

Possess good technical presentation and documentation skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Understand systems integration technology to include software, electrical/electronic, mechanical, and chemistry technology

Strong competency in software programming languages, such as C, C#, C, .NET, Java, or Python, as well as using Microsoft Visual Studio

An understanding of SQL programming and SQL Database Architecture

Knowledge of scripting, including PowerShell, VBS, and batch files

Strong competency with different Windows platforms, including Windows Server

Knowledge of the OSI model and proven experience around networking, including Juniper and Cisco appliances

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, push and pull equipment, and carry up to 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet

Must be able to stand, bend, and/or kneel for up to two hours at a time

Some exposure to biohazards is a possibility during instrument service activities, as these instruments are used in biohazard environments and come in contact with human bodily fluids. Biohazard training, safety equipment, and following SOPs will minimize the exposure

Must possess a valid driver's license with the ability to drive a vehicle for up to 4-5 hours at a time and be comfortable with commercial air travel

Maintain Vendor Credentialing for access to customer location and instrumentation which may require certain vaccinations and/or medical screening be kept up to date

Overtime and last-minute schedule changes may occur to ensure customer satisfaction

Ability to travel up to 50% (overnight), sometimes with less than 1 days' notice via automobile or airplane
