Job Description:

We are seeking Full, Part-time, and paid internship positions. Occasional overtime is available on weekends and/or weeknights when working on a tight deadline. Flexible hours for internships and students is available.

CNC Machinist Descriptions:

Level 1 ($12hr / internship $8hr):

The level one apprentice CNC Machinist will be responsible for the following:

-Reading setup sheets.

-Cutting and deburring/prepping raw stock using manual saws or shears.

-Loading stock into the CNC properly.

-Operation of the CNC mill or lathe.

-Operation of manual and semi-automatic tapping station.

-Hand deburring of finished parts.

-Reading simple blueprints.

-Inspection of parts using typical manual instruments.

-Cleaning and packaging finished parts.

Level II ($20hr / internship $12hr):

In addition to level I skills, the level II CNC machinist will be responsible for the following:

-Turn-on and set-up CNC machines

-Load and touch-off all the tools needed for a job.

-Load soft-tooling and set the part home positions (G54, G55, etc.)

-Inspect parts using pre-setup Faro CMM.

-Tap, deburr, and inspect critical tight tolerance parts.

-Prep and install heli-coils, bearings, pins, and other “one chance” operations.

Level III ($30hr / internship $20hr):

In addition to level I and II skills, the level III CNC machinist moves into shop management, engineering, and programming and will be responsible for the complete life cycle (quote to delivery) of complex parts and assemblies:

-Working knowledge of E2 Job Shop software to include part quotes, job estimates, shipping documents, invoices, and receipts.

-Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor HSM Ultimate 5-axis CAM software for the following: Designing and programming soft-tooling, programming 3,4,5 axis parts, feeds & speeds, posting programs to CNC machines, generating set-up sheets, and producing working drawings when needed.

-Working knowledge of Faro CAM2 software for reverse engineering and inspection.

Manual Machinist / Fabrication

($15hr / internship $8hr):

Manual Machinist skills:

-Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as manual Mills/Lathes, Drill Press, Sanders, Grinders, and hand power tools.

-Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto the machine.

-Work from sketches/blueprints to produce projects according to specifications.

-Select the appropriate tools and materials.

-Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges.

-Listen to machines to ensure tooling is running properly.

-Takes job down efficiently (Tooling, cleaning fixtures, putting gauges back, etc).

Custom Fabrication:

Little Enterprises also provides custom fabrication services which include the following skills:

-MIG, TIG, and Gas welding (90% Aluminum TIG welding, 10% Steel MIG)

-Sheet metal fabrication using shear, brake, notcher, and various hand tools.

-Bar and tubing fabrication using manual and hydraulic benders.

Little Enterprises’s machine shop is heated/air-conditioned and equipped with the latest Haas CNC machine tools (VF4SS, ST10, DM2, MM2, CM1). Our work environment is relaxed and flexible. All employees regardless of experience will be required to maintain a positive attitude, a self-starter mentality, and help keep our shop clean and an enjoyable place to work. Eye and ear protection are provided and required. Employees should expect to be in contact with typical machine shop fluids, coolants, metal chips, etc. that are part of the process of making machined parts.
