Entity/Organization: MUHA (Medical University Hospital Authority/Medical Center)Hours per week: 40Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: DAYFair Labor Standards Act Status: SalariedJob Summary/Purpose : The Quality and Education Coordinator functions as a member of the Sterile Processing Team and reports to the SPD Director. Under general supervision the Quality and Education Coordinator is responsible for auditing processes in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and case carts and ensuring that processes and staff are working based on AAMI standards, within TJC, OSHA and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines. This role assures consistent quality of production in sterile processing; validating processes; providing documentation; driving performance and improvement and ensuring the department is meeting/exceeding the needs of our customers.Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; an associate or bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field preferred. Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program and credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, (formerly LCC-ST); or a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) required. Certification as Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) and Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) preferred or obtained within 12 months of hire. A minimum of five years central sterile work experience preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in sterile processing preferred. Extensive Knowledge of CS supplies, instruments, and equipment required. Extensive Knowledge and experience with CS functions and standards of practice: Decontamination, assembly, sterilization, sterile storage and distribution required. Superior communication and computer skills required. Experience with a Sterile Processing Instrument tracking system required. Experience with Microsoft Office products required. Experience with quality assurance and process improvement initiatives preferred. Adapts quickly to change. Work experience in training and different presentation techniques preferred. Work experience developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and training, as well as identify educational and training needs of the department preferred. Requires highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Detail oriented required. Travel may be required. Holiday work and emergency management/disaster team work required.
