ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will supervise and assist in the preparation and presentation of food for patients, staff, hospital visitors, and special functions. You will be responsible for participating in development and following standardized recipes, review menus, production sheets, recipes and tallied items to verify production needs for the day. You will bake, roast, grill, fry, boil, and steam meats, fish, and vegetables; verify and record yields, temperatures and distribution of foods prepared; label, date, and deliver and secure foods and ingredients as well as inspect, determine and record leftovers. You will be responsible for monitoring safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures, conduct safety and sanitation inspections, participate in training and supervising cooks and be responsible for monitoring work assigned to assure meal schedules are met.QualificationsRequired:Certified Cook

ServSafe or equivalent safe food handling certification

Reading and grammar skills sufficient to write counseling memos and quality control activities in standard English

Math skills sufficient to adjust recipes and determine production needs

Knowledge and experience in large quantity food production

Ability to evaluate food quality, taste, smell, and visual appearance

Knowledge of general nutrition sufficient to appropriately develop nutrient modified recipes

Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or wet areas, lift 40 lbs., push loaded carts weighing 350 lbs

Expertise in working with commercial food production equipment sufficient to train staff

Impeccable hygiene and dress which model unit standards

Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate unit and department mission, goals, and standards
