Your OpportunitySchwab Asset Management Solutions (SAMS) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $500 billion under management in mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, multi-asset, asset allocation strategies, and money markets funds.TheDirector of Enterprise Risk is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing SAMS enterprise risk management program, including proactive risk governance, enterprise risk management framework, and monitoring and managing current and emerging key risks to SAMS. The role requires subject matter expertise, strong attention to detail, and a focus on relationship building across the SAMS entities.The Director will be responsible for partnering with leaders of SAMS functional business units to execute on objectives and maintain best in class risk management processes in alignment with corporate enterprise risk management framework and standards.What you are good atSupport the implementation of a sustainable, best in class risk management culture across SAMS

Implement and maintain the SAMS Enterprise Risk Management framework, including the maintenance of a high level comprehensive risk inventory

Evaluating and management of existing and emerging material risks to the firm (e.g., data/privacy risk)

Conduct risk assessments of SAMS product initiatives, technology projects, and change management updates

Prepare and provide periodic risk reporting to senior leadership and various risk committees

Conduct reasonability review of vendor SOC-1 reports and their impact to complementary user entity controls

Maintain risk governance over the SAMS Hedging Program

Support deep dive analysis of key business processes in order to provide clarity of the risks and controls environment and recommending enhancements and improvements to controls

Become a subject matter expert on Schwab risk management applications such as SIRIS, Archer, and myGRC

Build the SAMS Business Unit Policies Governance Process in alignment to First Line and Second lines of defense recommendations

Lead/participate in multi-departmental risk governance projects or processes as assigned

Build effective relationships with all three lines of defense, specifically with the First Line Risk Management Office, Corporate Operational Risk Management, Corporate Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit Department

Engage with key SAMS risk stakeholders such as other risk team members and business team leaders

What you haveSuccess attributes for this role include a strong attention to detail and applying problem-solving skills. You possess solid organizational skills, comfort with ambiguity, an ability to manage effectively in the face of shifting priorities, as well as a curious disposition. SAMS is a matrixed organization, thus, the successful candidate displays outstanding collaboration skills and has experience with building partnerships.Requirements:A minimum of7-10 years overseeing risk management and or policies and controls related areas within a financial services organization with a focus on Investment Management

Broad experience and deep understanding of controls as it relates to Investment Management and Risk Operations

Leverage strategic and analytical capabilities to make sound, timely decisions based on available information taking into consideration fiduciary and corporate responsibilities

Able to act decisively in making solid, informed judgment calls in response to the critical regulatory environment and the day-to-day business issues

Strong relationship management and negotiation skills required with the ability to assess and effectively communicate risk and control solutions

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization

Highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos as well as the enterprise as a whole

Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group

An undergraduate degree is required; advanced degree preferred
