We have an opportunity for an experienced and passionate Government Relations Manager to lead the internal requirements of Government Relations at Leidos, through the execution of operational delivery of Leidos Australia’s (LA’s) Government Relations’ strategy and advisory services. This role will see you regularly represent Leidos Australia on government and regulatory affairs, internally and externally, as the nominated delegate of the Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Industry Engagement.

Our Corporate Affairs and Industry Engagement function is a key partner to the Leidos Australia Business Development team and will see you engage the Business Development teams across the business. You will support the Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Industry Engagement on priority programs covering military, public service, civil and security intelligence domains for the organisation and overseas markets to assist with the planning and development of government engagement strategies and related activities.

This is a broad and diverse role and a “Day in Life” will see you;

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders, Federal and State, and connect them with senior executives and internal stakeholders when required
  • Assist in the development and implementation of public awareness campaigns across the full range of government and department areas that influence LA ‘s capabilities, in line with the corporate strategy and external communications approach.
  • Monitor progress of legislative and regulatory issues of interest to the company and provide analysis to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support and develop LA’s business objectives by engaging with government stakeholders on key policy issues.
  • Engage with US and UK counterparts to foster strategy exchange between the Leidos operations in relation to political activities
  • Assist in the preparation of appropriate business cases, board papers and evidence-based consultation/advocacy materials for presentation to target boards/committees for influencing key government and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate across the business and prepare reports or submissions on key policy or pursuit areas relating to LA’s Australian Market Plan/ Priority areas.
  • Coordinate with Business Development teams and government external key stakeholders for business opportunities/ pursuits for Leidos.
  • Engage with industry and strategic analysis bodies to gain greater understanding of ourbusiness environment and ensure LA is recognised as a thought leader

Qualifications

About You and What You Will Bring

  • Substantial experience working within government, public interest groups or the field of corporate public policy
  • Demonstrated success in an advocacy/public policy role – ideally within a large and complex organisation.
  • Accomplished verbal and written communication, stakeholder engagement and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated appreciation for commercial enterprise objectives and ways of operating.
  • Substantial experience developing and maintaining call plans which provide opportunities to communicate to politicians and senior public servants
  • A self-starter with a demonstrated track record of working in a dynamic and multifunctional team

Key to the success in this role is your ability to engage with a number of stakeholders and collaborate across the business.
