Lead Solutions Architect / AWS Migration / Java

My client who serves millions of military members and their families with competitive rates on insurance, banking and investment services is looking to add multiple software architectures to their team. This position is a 3-6-month contract to hire opportunity. In addition, this position is Remote for the remainder of the year. They still want these candidates to be in the valley (or Texas) for return to office. Cannot say how the return to office will be and how much they will be required to be onsite, but set the expectation of 3 days likely onsite in Deer Valley a week. This position can pay up to $120.00 per hour on a W2 with health benefits! In this role, there is going to be a heavy focus on architecture, especially in the early going. The client is going through a massive modernization where they are taking applications from current environment which is mainframe/websphere to eventually be AWS cloud native. They are looking for architects who have worked on the modernization of the application ecosystem at scale and know what cloud migration journey is and looks like and the challenges that will arise. The ideal candidate will be familiar and understand the architecture of distributed systems, containers, and data streaming. If that is you then apply today! Required Skills & Experience

• 10-15 years of experience- need to be very mature.
• 5 years of experience with architect. They will focus more on Architecture vs. implementation of said architecture.
• Large system experience - highly integrated, high transaction, data intensive, etc.
• Java and related tools
• Strong database knowledge - SQL and noSQL

• Big bonus for event streaming / data streaming tools / techniques - Kafka, Spark, Flink, etc.
• Experience on a public cloud system - AWS most preferred. BIG bonus for being part of a cloud migration of this scale from older mainframe-driven systems
• Experience in a highly-regulated industry - finance, insurance, medical, etc.

• DB2 (to migrate away from)
• Streaming services- Kafka- be great to be familiar w/- using for messaging, streaming for event.
• Backend Java- want somebody who can design the whole house vs. doing the interior design or just a room.
• Architecture person who knows what are the challenges we are going to see with a design- why to make these choices and why it's going to be more effective.
• Should have some knowledge of front end, but will not be focusing in this area.
