WAREHOUSE DELIVERY DRIVER-Neighbor Island

Position Description: Warehouse Delivery Driver, Full-Time

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Operates a company delivery vehicle in transporting materials to customers on a predetermined route or when picking up materials as directed by warehouse management. Maintains the vehicle in a good working order; receives materials and loads or unloads vehicle with or without helpers; complies with all company safety programs and proper vehicle operating procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Verifies, sequences and secures all loads prior to leaving the facility. Insures all documents are prepared prior to leaving the facility.

2. Inspects vehicle to insure safe working condition prior to leaving the facility.

3. Collects COD as required on delivery manifests and invoices.

4. Issues credit as required for shortages and returned merchandise.

5. Secures proper signatures and leaves copies of invoices, credits or exchange documents prior to leaving an account.

6. Complies with all company safety and government regulated policies towards operating a vehicle in a safe and proper manner.

7. Cross training in other departments (Food Service and Vending).

8. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate or GE equivalent preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years of driving experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, suppliers, peers and management. Ability to communicate ideas and discuss issues in a clear, concise and rational manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts in practical business applications.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

Demands of this function are consistent with all requirements of operating a vehicle safely and legitimately on city streets. Must be people oriented and not hesitant or indecisive when addressing questions or issues with all levels of customers and personnel. Must be able to recognize time constraints of meeting delivery commitments.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to determine what is right and what is wrong based on the facts at hand and make decisions to insure safe vehicle operations at all times.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

Drivers license and clean driving abstract. Commercial drivers license minimum class B certification when operating those rated vehicles. License to operate various material handling equipment and forklifts.

OTHER ABILITIES:

Drivers will work in the warehouse when not operating vehicles. Work conditions as detailed in the warehouse person job description pertains to individuals while performing these functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to walk, sit and stand. The employee is required to write in longhand or on a computer. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move a minimum of 20 pounds. Employee will be required to use a pallet jack, hand truck, hand cart, fork lift, safety belt, steel toe shoes and step ladder. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The employee will spend much of their time on the streets and must have a basic knowledge of the areas and sites they service.

The noise level in the environment will be noisy to very noisy. Employee must be able to wear ear and eye protection as well as other required protective wear.

WORK HOURS:

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. However, hours may fluctuate based on specific activities requirements and management discretion.
