Title: Product Engineer

Location: Plymouth, MI

Job Type: Full time

Job Description:
  • Create an ADB demonstrator vehicle for Client Drive activities.
  • Coordinate the build of night drive headlamps, installation of the headlamps and brush guard on the vehicle.
  • Coordinate the electrical hardware and software development at the Lansing-based electrical shop.
  • Coordinate and run the optical tests on the headlamp assemblies before vehicle installation.
  • Verify correct installation and aim of headlamps on completed vehicle.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and customer night drives.
  • This function will be determined by health concerns and regulations in place at the time of the night drives.
  • Study the night drive control tablet and know its functions for night drive support.
  • Communicate any problems or issues so they can be addressed in a timely manner.
  • Complete any program tasks as determined by Client.
  • Complete the program activities as per timeline.
Qualifications:
  • Must have hands-on experience with mechanical automotive projects. A highly technical background in electronics is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to communicate with customers, suppliers and other members of our operations effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to track progress against established Project timelines and milestones.
  • Knowledge and execution experience as it relates to benchmarking.
  • Recognition of cost initiatives.
  • Ability to problem solve and facilitate solutions.
  • Microsoft computer application experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Willingness and ability to take on tasks outside of responsibility set when required.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Understanding of account operations, budget management etc.
  • Ability to assess problems encountered, and take appropriate action to resolve problems within standard project management policies, processes and practices.
  • Strong and varied interpersonal skills.
  • Able to travel and manage flexible work schedule requirements.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical automotive lighting systems.
  • Strong organization skills are critical.
  • Operations experience is an asset
