- The Agile Project Manager is responsible for delivering one or more projects within IT Operations.
- This particular project manager should have excellent stakeholder communication and management as well as delivery skills.
- They should be agile experienced, both as an Agile PM and as an Agile Coach or Scrum Master.
- Project activities may include status reporting, scheduling, financial forecasting, maintaining risks/issues/changes, running meetings, ensuring the project starts and completes efficiently, interfacing with multiple delivery portfolios and non-functional groups.
- Project activities may include working with the PMO requirements for project fulfillment.
- Oversee the planning, implementing, quality control, and status reporting on a given project or group of projects.
- Manage the project team, which typically consists of people from all the areas of the organization and contracted personnel.
- Responsible for precisely defining the scope of the project
- Confirming the project schedule, and updating that schedule as it evolves
- Confirming the project budget through detailed cost tracking, and then managing the project so that it doesn't cause cost overruns
- Making sure the project team has the supplies and human resources necessary to get the project done on time and on budget
- Identifying and minimizing potential risks to the project timeline, quality and budget
- Making sure that all project team members understand what their responsibilities are
- Communicating the project's progression to management and stakeholders
- Ensuring the quality of the team's work and any supplies or materials used by the team
- Ensuring all project requirements and gates are completed in a timely and quality manner
- Doing everything possible to ensure delighting customers
- Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers
- Guiding the team on how to get the most of out of self-organization
- Guiding the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks
- Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
- Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
- Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
- Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
- Excellent communication skills with stakeholders and team members
- Experience with Clarity and Microsoft Project
- Good relationship building skills
- Ability to work well with project managers and a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- 5+ years in Information Technology
- 5+ years managing projects of moderate size and complexity
- Experience with Agile projects
- Experience with both infrastructure and software projects a plus.
- First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
- Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc)
- Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II)
- Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
- Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business or related field
- PMI/Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Agile certification
