We set them.Department DescriptionThe Data, Discovery and Decision Science (D3) department leverages data and analytics to help the enterprise make data driven decisions that improve business processes, create great customer experiences, and deliver on our corporate priorities. D3 is responsible for supporting business units across the Allstate Family of Companies (AFC) with a broad portfolio of data, research, and analytical products and solutions. This job family works with various stakeholders throughout the enterprise to develop effective relationships to support business goals. Additionally, this job family is responsible for ensuring successful execution of the organizational structure as it relates to talent management and quality of deliverables.Job SummaryThe Business Analytics Consultant Senior Manager is responsible for leading a high caliber team at the center of how D3 partners with business units to:

  • discover new insights and influence strategy
  • optimize existing operations through actionable data
  • enable transformational change
The senior manager will provide leadership to a growing team of 20 employees / managers with particular emphasis on:
  • Employee development, growth and retention
  • Continued evolution of the BAC role
  • Advocacy of the BAC function
Key functions of the BAC team include:
  • Strategy and business consulting
  • Business process and customer value chain mapping
  • Fact gathering
  • Experimentation and hypothesis testing
  • Relationship management
  • Structuring work and program coordination
  • Support of the analytics development lifecycle
  • Data visualization and storytelling
  • Communication and change management
Key Responsibilities

Strategic

Leadership• Translates vision and strategies into roadmaps and projects• Effectively influences business partner adoption of insights and solutions; demonstrates knowledge of business problems, requirements and context• Continually focuses on succession planning and talent development for sustainability within the organization• Provides and communicates strategic vision and provides line of sight between the team's work and Allstate strategies• Provides effective, real-time performance management feedback, coaching and mentoring • Consistently demonstrates influential leadership and leads by example when handling ambiguous and difficult situations• Drives effective use of budget

Problem Solving• Applies knowledge and experience to make decisions that have an impact on quality and/or effectiveness of the business beyond their area of responsibility• Leverages corporate-wide network of contacts to manage complex issues

Collaboration and Communication• Works across the organization to ensure coordination of the project portfolio with other initiatives• Develops and delivers communications for complex technical projects to non-technical audiences (appropriate audience, vehicle, level of detail, urgency) • Projects strong storytelling skills (verbal & written) and engaging leadership presence • Develops and strengthens relationships between business unit and technology area• Serves as thought leader on team communication needsKey Responsibilities (continued)

Knowledge Management• Exhibits advanced discipline and insurance knowledge, working knowledge of all teams (business, technology, etc.) through product and process recommendations• Effectively navigates across Allstate Personal Lines and Shared Services• Actively shares; purposeful and strategic conduit from business to team and stakeholders

Project Management• Acts as liaison with business partners and technology for assigned projects and portfolios, identifying and driving resolution to issues impacting product or project quality, timely implementation of initiatives and/or quality of initiatives• Represents D3 with business partners• Manages the portfolio/inventory of all team projects with minimal support, to ensure projects are implemented on time, at or under budget and with quality• Ensures projects are managed according to the plan managing scope, prioritization and mitigating riskKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 10+ years experience; prior insurance experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced problem solving skills

  • Advanced time, organizational and project management skills
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills
