Job Description

  • Supervision of psychiatric providers (psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners) in the clinic
  • Recruitment and retention of high quality, mission-driven psychiatric providers
  • Create, implement and monitor adherence to policies related to psychiatric services such as medication prescribing, monitoring for side effects, integration with other medical services, and psychotherapy for those interested in that modality
  • Review and revise the psychiatric documentation in the clinic’s electronic medical record
  • Partnership with clinic leadership to enhance direct and collaborative primary care services
  • Management/oversight of the implementation of buprenorphine/naloxone prescribing
  • In collaboration with clinic leadership, implementation of telepsychiatry for select patient encounters
  • Participation and leadership in regular clinic meetings, including high risk rounds, staff meetings, budget and operational meetings, and clinic leadership meetings
  • Serve as the clinic liaison to the city’s psychiatric hospitals (both acute and state) and CPEP/emergency rooms.
  • Participate in regular supervision and strategic planning sessions with the Chief Medical Officer
  • In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, design, build, implement and supervise psychiatric and psychiatric NP training programs
  • Serve as the clinical lead for the Incident Review Committee
  • At least half of time dedicated to direct patient care

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree with active New York State license in good standing
  • Graduate of ACGME-accredited psychiatry training program
  • ABPN Board-certified or equivalent certification of competence
  • At least two years of experience working with individuals with serious mental illness
  • Excellent diagnostic, clinical formulation and treatment skills
  • Strong leadership abilities and flexibility to work successfully with a wide range of multi-disciplinary staff
  • MAT-waivered or ability to receive waiver within 3 months of hire
  • Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system preferred
