Working full time from home during CovidWhen normal operations resume – 3 days in office and 2 days of telework per weekAddress: 445 12th Street SW, Washington, DC 20554Metro: Smithsonian or L’Enfant PlazaMust be a to obtain a Public Trust Microsoft Systems Engineer to join our team located in Washington, DC focused on our client’s migration to the cloud and modernization strategy. The Microsoft Systems Engineer will design solutions and products, and also manage Azure cloud products (i.e. Office365, MS Azure Cloud) and AWS. In this end-to-end systems life cycle engineering role, you will plan, design, secure, test, implement and maintain solutions following industry standards and processes.Responsibilities:- Design Active Directory (Azure AD), System Centers, virtual desktop infrastructure
- Design VMware vSphere environment (ESXi)
- Design and engineer virtual desktop infrastructure (i.e. VMware, Citrix)
- Design and engineer public key infrastructure (CAC/PIV)
- Design and engineer Cloud messaging environment (i.e. Proofpoint, Office365)
- Design identity management such as Okta, ADFS, VMware Workspace
- 8+ years of server systems engineering experience of Windows environment (Active Directory and Azure AD)
- 5+ years of virtualization design and implementation experience
- Hands on hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Windows programming and/or scripting skills /w PowerShell or equivalent).
- Experience with managing and securing in a similarly sized systems environment (500+ servers)
- Familiarity with SAN and NAS storage administration in a Windows Server environment.
- Experience utilizing security tools (i.e. Group Policy, AV/malware/spam protection software, etc.) to secure Windows environment.
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows servers.
- Performance of Windows Server architecture design and implementation
- Performance of Virtualization architecture design and implementation
- Demonstrated experience with best practices for Windows Server 2012 install, support and configuration.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, SQL, SharePoint, Exchange, and file/print services.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Exchange Server, MS SQL Server, Active Directory design, SharePoint, and PowerShell v1.0/v2.0
- Strong knowledge of with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS protocols, firewall, load-balancing technologies and firewalls
- Demonstrated experience working with load balancing technologies and large-scale server farms.
- Strong knowledge of using scripts to automate and schedule routine administration tasks.
- Demonstrated experience design and implement Group Policy to secure and configure systems, automate tasks and package deployment within the Windows environment
- Demonstrated experience in data backup/recovery design and implementation for both physical virtual environment
- Demonstrated experience using Symantec for OS deployment, patch management, software distribution, and HW/SW inventory
- Provisioning of high availability, security and integrity of physical and virtualized platforms.
- Demonstrated experience performing system security hardening to comply with Federal security mandates.
- Demonstrated experience installing, upgrading and configuring applications within a Microsoft Server IIS environment
- Demonstrated experience supporting .NET and Java Applications (IIS, Tomcat, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in design, install, configure and support VMware ESX/ESXi/VSphere and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
- Troubleshooting virtualized/published and streamed applications for employees with client devices running Windows OS.
- Design and implementation of Group Policies to apply our standard Windows “tweaks” consistently to every server.
- Demonstrated experience with the installation, configuration and operation of Microsoft DFS
- Good team player and technical leadership skills
- BA/BS (or equivalent training/education/certifications)
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Virtualization in VMware, Hyper-V
