LINUX System Administrator

EXPERIENCE AND DUTIES REQUIRED

• Review and enhance current SUSE configuration manager environment
• Work with Server team to build, deploy and support SUSE Linux servers
• Utilize SALT stack protocol to drive efficiency of management and support of SUSE linux systems
• Manage and optimize SUSE Linux systems for deployment in a VMware environment on a hyper converged platform
• Participate in meetings in support of the NVkids project when topics include systems supported by this position
• Effectively communicate with Project Managers, Management and Peers.

• Provide knowledge transfer to State staff whenever possible
• Document step-by-step guides of the configuration settings for SUSE configuration manager,
• Provide accurate timelines for assigned activities;
• Ensure all deployments meet security requirements of the Division
• Collaborate with end users of the systems to ensure performance objectives are meet
• Evaluate current deployments of the following products and provide recommendations for going forward;
  • SUSE linux
  • SUSE configuration manager
  • Virtualization in Vmware settings for SUSE Linux

• Proficient in the following skills related to Linux operating systems:

• Installation
• Configuration
• Optimization
• SUSE Configuration manager advanced concepts
• SALT commands
• Scripting \file manipulation Perl, AWK, Sed, BASH
• Sudo configuration
• RSyslog/Syslog
• Logical Volume management
• Containers
