Summary/Objective 5SRC is seeking an exceptional individual to support a DoD Program Office located at Redstone Arsenal, AL. We are seeking an experienced Configuration Manager/Data Manager with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and challenging development and acquisition efforts in the DoD with a great company. This position requires the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision, exercising initiative in the performance of assigned tasks. The ideal candidate will have the capability to train other team members and find solutions/drive decisions that contribute to efficient and proper Configuration Management.

Essential Functions
  • Support the Government in maintaining configuration management of all Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) delivered data products.
  • Assist with reviewing program-unique specifications to include system specifications, development specifications, and product specifications for both hardware and software, for proper format, content, and compliance with program requirements and appropriate standards; and track the requests through the appropriate government agencies for responding back to the customer.
  • Support the configuration control function, to include receipt, dissemination, processing, tracking, and final disposition, Requests for Deviation/ Waiver (RFD/RFW), review change proposals for thoroughness, configuration and data management impacts and compliance with Government requirements; make appropriate recommendations for Government review and disposition; assist in the preparation and conduct of CCB and business management boards (or their equivalent); assist in maintaining change proposal files; and assist in providing historical information.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting product data or perform other configuration management activities as required, to include support for CCB Charter development and the administration of CCB activities.
  • Assist in reviewing compliance with Government technical data requirements.
  • Develop and analyze recommended specifications, perform sensitivity analyses, and provide technical expertise in allocating the functional system baseline and controlling subsystem interfaces. Prepare recommended performance specifications IAW MIL STD 961.
  • Assist in maintaining configuration status accounting databases and records to reflect the configuration status of baseline documentation and fielded systems and equipment.
  • Assist in data reviews. This assistance shall include integrating inputs from Program Office/IPT functionals into draft CDRLs, preparing data review documentation, participating in data reviews, drafting data, reviewing minutes, and following up and maintaining statuses of action items.
  • Assist by providing engineering data management support for program requirements to include preparing or updating and maintaining any engineering data management plan; establishing and maintaining an engineering data activity file; and providing technical support in the preparation of and conduct of engineering data guidance conferences and engineering drawing In-Process Reviews (IPRs).
  • Provide configuration/data management-related research, analyses, studies, documentation, briefing development, and assistance in briefing delivery as required to support mission partner activities.
  • Apply knowledge of the fundamentals of configuration management and the deficiency reporting process to assist in establishing and maintaining consistency of a product’s performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life.
  • Input, maintain and recommend enterprise CMDM software workflows required to increase efficiency and improve data management. Develop subject matter expertise in the function and operation of the information system database used for document storage, review and approval.
  • Develop “How-to” training for CMDM processes and supporting documentation.
  • Advise, instruct, and train users on CMDM software.
  • Work with OEM to coordinate and provide configuration management for project, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality group needs.
  • Support engineering activities with respect to documentation and configuration control.
  • Ensure that technical documents and deliverables are managed in the digital environment.
  • Initiate & implement process improvement activities.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other employees.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees must have the ability to see, hear and speak. The employee must also have the ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds, sit for extended hours and operate a keyboard.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, requiring a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel No more than 10% travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8 years’ experience in the CMDM field

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 15 + years’ experience in the CMDM field
  • CM professional certification (e.g. NDIA, CMII, CMPIC, etc.)

Work Authorization/Security Clearance An Active, DOD Secret Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
