- Expert understanding of how application data flows over the network (firm foundation of OSI model)
- Document all work performed in internal document repositories (wiki), build customer documentation, craft remediation guides and as-built documents, and be completely proactive in updating older documentation.
- Must have experience transferring head knowledge to written technical procedures to be used by other deployment engineers.
- Able to follow existing deployment procedures and adhere to Synoptek engineering standards.
- Must be able to logically diagram out shared and customer environments in Microsoft Visio.
- Work with vendors and other third parties to deliver new services to customers
- Has knowledge of current emerging/new technologies in specialty areas and the potential impact and efficiencies they may have in a managed services environment.
- Advanced understanding and practical experience implementing management protocols such as WMI and SNMP
- Extensive experience working with cloud-based services or applications
- Conceptual knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, SSL
- 4+ years of experience working in managed services & multi-tenant environments
- Expert level of experience with installing/configuring 3 or more specialty applications such as Active Directory, MS Exchange, vSphere, Citrix, SharePoint, MS SQL.
- Experience installing and configuring various operating systems including Microsoft Window Server, and Linux/UNIX.
- Hands-on experience with Installing, configuring, and tuning virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and/or XenServer
- Experience providing recommendations for new server hardware to meet specific requirements including manufacturers such as IBM, Cisco, Supermicro, HP, Dell, and Sun Microsystems (Oracle).
- Extensive experience working with and installing blade server systems including manufacturers such as Dell, IBM, HP, and Cisco.
- Expert understanding of how and when SAN technologies are used and some exposure to SAN technologies such as FCoE and iSCSI. Experience installing and configuring new SAN systems to support a single customer or multiple. Experience with various SAN vendors such as EMC, NetApp, Dell, HP, and Hitachi.
