INTRODUCTION
  • This position is located in Upper Marlboro, MD
  • The core working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • This is a full time salaried position with a comprehensive benefit package

  • The purpose of this position is to oversee and assist in the design of Melwood’s systems, servers, and networks and operationally support the operating systems and application software in client-server environment including related hardware (routers, switches and connectivity services across Melwood’s local and wide area network)
  • The incumbent in this position ensures the maximum availability of service and network resources to internal and external customers

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains and updates servers, Network Operating Systems, Oversees and Administers MSOffice365 environment, establish and maintain Azure instances. Ensures all required network devices are properly backed up according to standards and protocols outlined in Melwood’s corporate policy and procedures
  • Automation of repetitive precision tasks enabling a predictable and desired outcome
  • Investigates, analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves server and client computer problems, including day-to-day operational problems
  • Capacity planning responsibilities to include Network, server, and application utilization
  • Disaster Recovery design, maintenance, and testing
  • Maintains thorough documentation of Systems upgrades to ensure continued system integrity
  • Installs, upgrades and administers operating systems and application software in client/server environments
  • Installs, configures, and troubleshoots computer networks and associated components and provides technical assistance to users
  • Automate installs, upgrades and administer operating systems and application software in client/server environments
  • Provide users with network technical support by responding to IT helpdesk issues
  • Performs configuration of hardware devices and software components, system back-up, restore, and initialization
  • Leads in the design, installation and administration of local and wide area networks using multiple protocols and various computer and networking systems
  • Procures hardware and software as necessary according to approved departmental purchase orders
  • Work with various levels of personnel’s understanding of technology and its use as it pertains to Melwood's business requirements
  • Performs all other Information System responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Position requires a minimum of four years’ experience in working as a Systems Administrator of Windows or Unix based servers and systems and experience using VMWare
  • Must have experience using and performing systems integrations and automation for Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory and Red Hat Linux
  • Possess knowledge and experience in an MS Office365 environment to include Azure
  • Must have experience using VEEAM. Possesses knowledge and experience in TCP/IP, user authorization and system administration of Windows and Unix based servers and networks
  • Must have Bachelor’s degree or certificates with equivalent working experience
  • Must have excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving and coordination skills
  • This position requires strong analytical/evaluation skills, a high degree of accuracy and technical competence
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record as driving is required
