Murphy VA Medical Center, a complexity Level 1B facility. Geriatric Extended Care is comprised of multiple disciplines providing a wide range of acute, rehabilitative, and case management functions. The incumbent is responsible for the clinical practice of physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, nursing staff, social workers, and administrative staff.Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for a very broad Program which includes professional staff (Community Living Center Medical Director, Home Based Primary Care Medical Director, Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director, and assigned physicians), Administrative Staff (Administrative Office, Secretary, Program Support Assistants), Nursing Staff to include the Chief Nurse GEC who manages all nursing staff, the Social Work Supervisory Social Worker who manages all social work staff including those in the CNH, Adult Day Care, Caregiver Support Program, Medical Foster Home, and all therapy staff, to include recreational therapists, occupational therapist, dieticians, psychologists, and physical therapists. Responsible for the Geriatric Extended Care Service Line, and has full responsibility for clinical practice, program management, education, human resource management, and supervision for the Service. Responsible for professional and administrative management of GEC's budget execution. Development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures; oversight of administrative and programmatic resources; and monitoring of outcomes using a data driven quality assurance process Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pmFinancial Disclosure Report: Not requiredRequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsApplicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.
