A Fortune 100 company in Phoenix is looking for architecture leader for their data warehouse and analytics ecosystem modernization effort to join on a contract-to-hire basis (also hiring for 2 senior or lead level individual contributors). As part of this group you will be leading PoC architectures for next-generation data warehouses / data lakes to support advanced analytics. To be successful in this you thrive in a fast-paced environment and ideally come to the table with working knowledge of the financial services industry and an even bigger bonus for experience in consumer credit. From a technical perspective, deep knowledge of relational (SQL) databases is a must to understand the current state architectures and be able to extract working data from a range of disparate data stores. In addition you bring to the table with strong knowledge of ETL and BI data visualization. Your duties will also include extensive stakeholder interaction to help design the most effective data structures and reporting dashboards that will support the growing needs of the organization in the future. Note that this position will start remote and is expected to remain so for at least 6 months. Future return-to-office will be expected with a hybrid remote/onsite model. Candidates should expect 2-3 days per week in their office in Phoenix at that time, so candidates in the Phoenix valley or willing to relocate several months out are most preferred. Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of experience with data technologies in roles like data engineer, data architect, ETL engineer, business intelligence manager, or similar
  • Expert-level knowledge of relational databases (SQL), and ideally work with multiple flavors
  • ETL / ELT using common tools and techniques
  • Data modeling (all layers) and strong understanding of data warehouse architecture
  • Data visualization using modern dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Previous experience in a lead engineer or manager capacity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal ability for stakeholder interaction and PoC presentation
  • Knowledge of the modern SDLC
  • Some industry knowledge in the financial sector
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, business analytics, or similar
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Previous work in consumer credit
  • Deep knowledge in enterprise data governance and master data management
  • Experience with modern data lakes / data warehouses with Snowflake being most preferred
  • Experience in cloud-hosted data stores
  • Exposure and/or knowledge of emerging and modern data engineering paradigms - event streaming, microservices, etc. working with tools from the AWS toolbelt
  • Working knowledge of advanced analytics and data science
  • Master's degree in computer science or similar discipline
What You Will Be Doing Responsibilities:
  • 50% Architecture - new PoC development
  • 30% Stakeholder interaction to understand current state architectures, desired future states, and presentations
  • 20% Team leadership
  • 10% Assisting in data governance program development and related activities
The Offer:
  • Competitive rare: Up to $85/hour, DOE, W2 only
  • Contract duration: 6 months, with conversion between 3-6 months if desirable on both side
