Network Engineer Job DescriptionBachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.The Network Engineer provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering, and design, and implements techniques and tools to improve the network. This engineer will also be responsible for conducting maintenance on existing networks using existing documentation and artifacts. The engineer coordinates with stakeholders to provide maintenance and troubleshoot hardware interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, etc. This engineer is motivated and does what it takes to get the job done, even if that requires research in areas that unfamiliar.Experience with subnetting, designing and implementing simple networks.The ability to take an existing network topology, improve upon it, and put the architecture into practice.Experience configuring Later 2 and Layer 3 Cisco switches with users, routes, remote access, VLANs, LACP groups, etc.Eager to learn, grow and try new networking technologies and architectures.Support and assist in the design and planning of network systems.What sets you apart:Cisco CCT, CCNA or more advanced certifications.Experience employing COMSEC in network design.Updating firmware and security hardening network equipment.Experience configuration Cisco Routers and Cisco FirewallsExperience implement Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN)Experience documenting network topologiesLinux system administration experience deploying services like TFTP, DHCP, NTP, SSH, etc.Configuring Virtual Private NetworksDesigning and Implementing firewall rulesets.
