- Assists in delivering data center services in support of projects and operations meeting documented requirements and timeframes
- Assists in installing, maintaining and removal of all servers and cabling within facilities
- Helps monitor, manage, and report all Data Center issues including aggressive resolution of customer tickets
- Racks, stacks and installs servers and cable runs from Data Center cabinets to associated Data Center hardware while maintaining records of the installations
- Act as the first responder for all technical and facility related issues within the Data Center
- Available to work on weekends, evenings, and non-traditional hours. Required to carry a cellular phone and/or pager on a 24x7 basis. Required to respond to infrastructure emergencies on a 24x7 basis. Must be available for weekend work and on-call for escalated problems Maintains process and procedure documentation including updates as required
- Utilize test equipment to ensure reliability of physical layer
- Interprets building codes and regulations as they relate to equipment installation
- Maintain and service state of the art A/V and video conferencing equipment
- Assists in planning and designing of new installations of network and data processing systems
- Coordinates and inspects the work of co-workers and outside contractors to ensure quality of workmanship
- Ensures the inventory control process for data center materials is conducted efficiently and cost effectively
- Carries out the most complex assignments related to data center cable design and installations, which includes connecting, patching and terminating cable to servers, switches and peripheral devices
- Orders data center connectivity materials as needed and ensures that proper on-site stock levels are maintained
- Solves the most complex network connectivity problems independently and achieves work-related deadlines in fast-paced and intense conditions
- Collaborates with all users within the IT community and outside contractors to assess their requirements for interconnectivity and installation of data center equipment
- Creates audits and modifies Data Center asset documentation as required
- Sets up and configures computer, console and KVM hardware and connections
- Ensure that proper cable routing guidelines are followed to maintain redundancy and diverse paths for critical infrastructure envelope
- Coordinate design and installation of all data/fiber within the critical infrastructure
- Acts as a mentor to junior members of the data center staff
- Requires minimum 5 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Requires minimum 5 years of experience working in a co-location, Data Center, or Lab environment
- Audio Video experience is preferred
- BSCI (Preferred)
