Test Engineer: Mechanical Lab

Loc: 300 Diller Ave, New Holland, PA - 17557

Dur: 12/21/2020 to 06/20/2021 Shift: 1st Hours: 8-5 OT as needed and approved by manager Basic Function: This position will develop and conduct tests in the Dyno Mechanical Lab to determine acceptability of component, subsystem and product designs; recommend alternatives to enhance performance, reliability, quality, durability and margin improvement; and work with the product development team to resolve product issues. Is acquainted with the organization and the overall engineering operation, and performs assigned duties within the Product Engineering and Evaluation Departments. Participates in the process of testing prototype machines/components in actual or simulated field conditions and support the Product Evaluation organization in performing the testing process. Constructs test equipment, dissemble experimental machines, make repairs, determine cause of failure and perform related duties as assigned for overall evaluation of specific test machines or components. Works directly with other engineering and manufacturing personnel and is learning to work in a team environment. Familiar with ISO Standards, procedures and work instructions. This position will mainly support Premium contractor Round Balers, Next Generation Combines, and Next Generation Drapers with the responsibilities below. Responsibilities Provide critical performance, functional validation and development of subassemblies and components. Work with design engineers and design analysis groups to optimise structural component to achieve desired results. Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical/electronic components on field and lab equipment. Prepare, organize and submit timely and concise reports covering system/component performance, reliability, and durability. Maintain accurate and comprehensive test records for reference and analysis. Work directly with Design in the development of the tests, the ongoing evaluation of results and the final conclusion. Work independently and in cooperation with other members (internal customers ) of the Platform Team including design, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance as well as other test organizations within CNH. Plan and organize individual work tasks as assigned through test requests for prototype, product improvement and competitive machines under actual or simulated field conditions to determine adequacy of design against objectives/requirements. Evaluate machine performance, diagnose component malfunctions, isolate problems. Recommend improvements in the development of crop harvesting products for both Case IH and New Holland brand products. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with emphasis in mechanical, agricultural, hydraulic and/or electrical disciplines or equivalent work experience Experience in electrical/electronic, fluid power and mechanical systems is desired.The ability to quickly learn new tools and techniques is required. Operational experience with AG/CE equipment (Case IH and New Holland brands preferred, but not required) is desired. Good communication (oral and written) and teamwork skills to organize test plans for preparation, conducting, analyzing, and report writing. Good computer skills. The candidate should be experienced with both mainframe and personal computers and MS Office products and preferred CAD experience. Other: Schedule: Mon thru Fri, day shift, 40 hrs / week (some OT possible pending work load) Safety Requirements: Steel toe shoes Driving Requirements: valid driver's license (CDL not required)
