Job Description

Create compelling, persuasive proposal content and design layouts that lead to the award of federal and commercial contracts. Promote brand and capability awareness of HFS. Plan and coordinate the proposal process: Meet with proposal team to strategize win themes and proposal approaches. Create Templates and Outlines for all proposals. Draft schedule timeline to ensure all submission deadlines are met. Participate in proposal win/loss evaluation and analysis.

Create proposal content: Develop and write proposal content utilizing original source material as well as previous proposal data, slides, photographs and proposal evaluation data. Organize proposal into a logical flow ensuring continuity of win theme throughout. Work with Marketing Coordinator to create diagrams, charts, photos and other visual aids. Collaborate regarding proposal design layout and placement of all graphic elements.

Proofread and edit all work product: Review all proposals for consistent style and formatting according to company style guidelines. Ensure accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Verify all submission requirements/elements of RFP have been met. Seek continuous improvement in quality of content and final product submission.

Maintain and organize past performance data for future access and use.

Promote and Enhance the HFS Brand: Develop content for relevant presentation and publication opportunities.

Constant – Ability to communicate with staff and others over the telephone and in person.

Constant – Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.

Constant – Ability to read, review, comprehend and mark/edit documents.

Occasional – Ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 20 pounds from varied heights.

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience as a full-time content writer/editor. Proposal/grant writing experience a strong plus.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications; preferred

Excellent verbal communication skills including a robust vocabulary and thorough understanding of proper English language usage

Excellent listening skills including the ability to interview staff and translate information into a clear, compelling message

Excellent written communication including proofreading, grammar, spelling and editing skills

Ability to think analytically, make thoughtful decisions and create solutions to problems

Strong time management habits and ability to meet deadlines

Strong visual organization skills with keen attention to detail

Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Schedule and Adobe Acrobat. Skilled in Internet usage and research

Knowledge of government contracting proposal process; preferred

Knowledge of Architecture/Engineering/Construction Project Management; preferred
