Job Description

The employee in this position will perform the following specific tasks and job duties and any others reasonably assigned by the Production Supervisor or his/her designee.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Produce and inspect wood stair products by using hand tools or automated machinery, such as computerized numerical control (CNC) machines.
  • Set up, operate, and tend drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood-nailing machines.
  • Cut, shape, and smooth wooden parts.
  • Verify dimensions using caliper or tape rule.
  • Add fasteners and adhesives and connect the pieces to form a complete unit.
  • Sand products using sander or sandpaper.
  • Operate specialized pieces of woodworking machinery.
  • Create wooden accents and trim.
  • Complete all stages of woodworking process.
  • Ensure wood isn't warped, cracked, or swollen.
  • Will be expected to clean the work area and department.
  • Comprehend and follow all prescribed safety policies, rules, practices and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the daily tasks and job duties bulleted above are as follows:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as/if needed on short notice.
  • Ability to use a personal computer to perform inquires and to update information.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of arithmetic and know how to apply.
  • Must be able and willing to train new hires or new departmental transfers.Must be able and comfortable working in a team-driven environment.
  • Must show leadership skills and be comfortable in this role.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to determine priorities and who requiring minimal supervision that is results driven.
  • Must have basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to use measuring equipment (i.e.: tape measures, calipers).
  • Must be able to accurately and legibly complete various forms of paperwork.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, policies, and procedures on how to set-up equipment, inspect product, enter information into the system, and complete paperwork.
  • Will be expected to clean the work area and department.
  • High school diploma or GED required

The physical requirements of this position are as follows:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires the ability to work 8 to 12 hours weekdays and possibly Saturday work 6 to 8 hours
  • Physical labor required such as lifting 65 to 85 pounds and walking on a regular basis.
  • Position requires continual standing and bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 85 pounds
  • Using hands and arms to move and handle wood blanks, manipulate and properly position the wood.
  • Ability to appropriately inspect finished stair parts to identify the problems or defects.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and communicate clearly
