Job Description

Responsible for providing direct patient care and assisting in the daily operations of the practice

  1. Perform general medical care for patients as needed, primarily taking every patient’s vitals prior to every visit with the Physician

  2. Coordinate patient intake and flow in the clinic for all Physicians so that patients are seen in an efficient and timely manner

  3. Reconciles all lab orders with results and notifies Physicians of any irregular results immediately, if critical

  4. Maintain proper stock of all medical supplies

  5. Maintains all clinic rooms stock with supplies needed on a daily basis

  6. Assure that bio hazardous waste is disposed of properly

  7. Assure that reusable equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before reuse

  8. Obtains patient’s medical history, including changes since last seen, and updates chart using an EHR

  9. Attend educational programs to keep current on all areas of responsibility

    In addition to the above responsibilities, this position might perform the following functions as needed:

  10. Assist physician with exams and procedures as requested and as specified in policies and procedures

  11. Schedule tests, procedures and outside referrals as ordered by physician

  12. Document all patient interactions in chart, return calls as ordered by physician

  13. Draw labs using proper technique and assure the patients are compliant with scheduled lab work

  14. Administer injections as ordered by the Physician

  15. Answer telephone calls from patients

  16. Schedule appointments for patients

  17. Fill out insurance forms

  18. Fill out relief programs forms

  19. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. QUALIFICATIONS:

    The following are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job:

  1. Education: High School degree; certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant

  2. Work Experience: Previous employment using skills that are specific to the medical assistant certificate

  3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    • Knowledge of medical office practice and organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care

    • Ability to communicate well with people of varying backgrounds and education

    • Ability to work on a fast pace environment

    • Must have ability to handle problem situations effectively and discreetly

    • Knowledge of computer system

    • Ability to listen, record and receive directions accurately

    • Thorough knowledge of English language, spoken and written
