Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:POSITION SUMMARYCoordinate authorizations/referrals needed for services provided at all Michigan locations. Enters all authorizations obtained into practice management system and relays information to hospitals and other offices as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESVerifies authorizations for Michigan Heart for all office visits, testing and procedures. Creates new authorization for testing and procedures as required. Maintain current and accurate files obtained by both the Internet sites and faxed authorizations and referrals from primary care office. Develop and maintain professional relationships with primary care offices. Educates offices with new procedure codes and insurance requirements. Keeps up to date records on insurance requirements for authorizations and referrals. Updates insurance participation list with manager. Educates Michigan Heart and PCP staff on changes. Works with IT department on auto-tasking when authorization is required for testing and procedures.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSUREHigh School diploma or GED. One-two years experience with obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to operate office equipment. Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Internet navigation. Proficient with Excel. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
