Job Title: Baker

Reports To: Blackstreet Bakery Program Coordinator

Pay: $17.50/hour

SUMMARY:

The Baker position will join a team of Bakers involved with

Blackstreet Bakery. They will be responsible for working with a team to

bake and package vegan baked products of consistent and high quality. This

is a part-time position.

ABOUT BLACKSTREET BAKERY:

Blackstreet Bakery is a program of 501(c)3 nonprofit Brown Hope. Blackstreet Bakery is a program that

honors North and Northeast Portland as a historic home for Black Portlanders and expands economic opportunities for Black people in plant-based baking.

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent oral,

written and listening communication

● Integrity, credibility, and passion for supporting the communities

● Previous baking experience preferred

● Ability to read and follow recipes.

● Good organizational skills.

● Good time management.

● Must be 18 years of age.

● Knowledge of basic math skills is preferred.

● Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred.

● Must be able to adhere to health and safety regulations.

● Ability to meet deadlines.

● Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

● Must possess a Food Handlers Card

● Serv Safe Certification preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Complete all necessary check-lists, production, and shrink logs as

directed.

● Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking

● Weighing flour and other ingredients to prepare dough

● Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes.

● Ensure all baked goods are completed on time.

● Ensure all packaging is consistent and clean.

● Track food supplies and alert Bakery program coordinator for

restocking needs

● Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers

● Staffing retail for special events as available

● Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use

● Maintaining safe and hygienic worksite
