Quality EngineerThere are 2-3 open positions titled Quality Engineer. These are hands-on roles as part of a large "zero defect initiative" (ZDI) to review and analyze failure and defect activity in their products. Product line is safetly equipment. Mainly SCBAs (self-contained breathing apparatus) used by front line workers (Police, Firefighters, Hospital personnel) and military.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Technical Contributions. Following the Zero Defects Initiative (ZDI), perform the following:
  • Collection of failure data from sources such as Scrap, Rework, Warranty, Customer Complaints, Capability Studies.
  • Update PFMEA based on analysis of data collected.
  • Perform line by line of updated PFMEA review on the production line.
  • Update CP and Operator Instructions based on Risks Identified.
  • Develop, validate and implement error-proofing techniques to mitigate risks identified in PFMEAs.
  • Understand Quality Engineering principles, review and evaluate data and test information, conduct tests, and reports findings to ZDI team for implementation. K Implements and monitor new processes for new product designs or changes in existing designs; verify processes specifications, functional and /or environmental test requirements and need for poke yoke assembly process and fixtures.

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
    • Minimum five (3) years of Manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
    • Must have hands on working knowledge of the following skill sets:
    • Process control plans
    • Capability Studies
    • CP vs CPK, Assembly processes
    • Poke Yoke processes
    • PFMEA, FMEA
    • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
    • MSA (Measurement System Analysis) (GRR's)
    • SPC
    • GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
    • Computer Skills (Word, Lotus Notes, Lotus 123, and Freelance)
    Desired quality engineering background from Safety, Safety Products, Aerospace, Automotive, Assembled products, Electromechanical products, Textiles, etc.
