Affirma, an established and growing IT firm based in Washington is expanding and looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team in Northwest Arkansas! As a full-service technology company, we provide breadth and depth of expertise while maintaining a personal touch of a boutique firm. Our teams specialize in helping organizations of all sizes solve their most challenging business pain points by creating custom in-house solutions.

In this role you will report directly to the Controller while helping to drive Affirma’s accounting functions in addition to developing processes that match the company’s current growth. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead a team, have a passion for learning, and have strong prioritization skills.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred

5-7 years’ experience in progressively responsible Accounting/Finance roles

Managerial experience

Big four or large regional CPA experience preferred

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Quickbooks and NetSuite experience preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Excel

International accounting experience (preparing/reviewing consolidated financials, converting to US GAAP, transfer pricing, etc.).

Finance experience and skills preferred (budgeting, forecasting, etc.)

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills

Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks

Flexible, organized, and detail oriented

Responsibilities

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP FOR THE DEPARTMENT

o Maintain and ensure accuracy of accounting records, maintain proper internal controls, and ensure compliance with all relevant company policies.

o Develop and execute processes in support of the company’s strategic plan.

o Manage existing accounting team of 5 members and help with their professional development.

o Manage relationship with foreign subsidiaries and their local accounting firms

o Liaise with outside CPA’s on all audit, and Federal & state tax matters and filings.

HANDLE/OVERSEE ALL ASPECTS OF DAY-TO DAY ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS INCLUDING

o Accounts receivable and collections, accounts payable, and payroll.

o Monthly reconciliations for all bank, credit card and other balance sheet accounts.

o Various state and local excise tax returns and other filings.

o Weekly/monthly reports and analyses and prepare other periodic reports.

o Preparing and consolidating worldwide financial statements and reports

o Monthly closes and year-end audits.

OVERSEE ALL RISK MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING

o Manage all insurance matters, including annual renewal process, contract review for insurance requirements and ensuring appropriate coverage is maintained at all times.

o Manage banking relationships.

o Ensure compliance with all government licensing requirements.

WORK CLOSELY WITH THE CONTROLLER TO

o Review/evaluate existing accounting systems and accounting processes, procedures and controls, and plan/implement improvements, as needed, to accommodate the continued growth of the company.

o Assess need for new systems, processes, procedures and controls, and develop/implement said systems, processes, procedures and controls as needed.

o Review/evaluate all reporting and financial analyses, and plan/implement improvements to support the executive team in managing the company.

o Assist, as needed, on development of all budgets and strategic/operational plans.

Work on special projects as required.
