As part of an exciting modernization of the organization's data and analytics architecture, the

Senior Business Systems Analyst will support the design and delivery of enterprise analytics solutions associated with the Analytics Strategy and Roadmap, which includes:
  • Migration to cloud architecture and toolset; implementation of enterprise data management tools; rearchitecting curated data models around integrated cross-domain insights; new delivery of previously unavailable data domains; and building the framework for future expansion into unstructured data exploration, data mining, predictive analytics, and other advanced data science use cases
  • As part of their role, the BA will perform discovery and scoping activities for prioritized projects; lead subject-matter experts through requirements elicitation/documentation; facilitate iterative design/prototyping sessions; functional document specifications and ensure alignment with technical specifications; documents test cases, test solutions, facilitate user acceptance testing, troubleshoot/document issues, and coordinate fixes/enhancements through to production deployment

Job Duties:

75% Business Systems Analyst
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, requirements workshops, user stories, scenarios, and more
  • Document tasks, user stories, workflow processes, and use cases ensuring requirements and to-be state are satisfied
  • Leverage subject matter expertise to advise customers on options, risks, and costs and secure solutions meet the needs of the business
  • Document the detailed business requirements in a traceable, testable, and verifiable format
  • Conduct and facilitate meetings and discussions to obtain business and functional requirements
  • Support test strategy and test requirements definition, development of test scenarios, and execution of test plans
  • Assess information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts; collaborate with developers to determine possible solutions
  • Effectively communicate project status, issues, schedule, and accomplishments to various management and stakeholder groups, as needed
  • Work within project deadlines, schedules, and multiple competing priorities to consistently deliver high-quality work product
  • Provide coaching and support to consultants and junior staff members
  • Document issues and manage conflict to resolve

15% Support & Maintenance
  • Provide technical and functional production support activities including timely resolution of all issues, issue tracking, and communication with other involved parties
  • Ensure ongoing configuration and maintenance of the system
  • Test, troubleshoot, and provide support to ensure that the system properly performs by predefined functional requirements
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure that newly developed processes meet the needs of the organization's policies, accounting standards, and procedures
  • Train end-users on new and existing functionality

5% Other Duties
  • Be an active member of regional and national user groups, including presenting at conferences
  • Serve as a member of various teams and working groups
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications Needed:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Computer Science/MIS, science, healthcare-related science; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4-6 years of relevant experience in place of a degree (Bachelor's Degree is preferred)
  • 2+ years of professional work experience as a Business Analyst, Quality Analyst, or product owner on technology development (analytics and data management) projects
  • 1+ year experience in a hands-on functional role supporting systems development, systems implementation, quality assurance, or similar experience
  • Background working under SDLC or other software-specific project management process, including Agile and Scrum
  • Solid Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint) skills

  • Solid analytical skills. Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; designs workflows and procedures
  • Curiosity and learning mindset; independently identifies areas of competency development and designs learning goals to achieve expertise
  • Effective problem-solving skills. Identifies and resolves problems promptly; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations
  • Knowledge of project management tools and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse constituencies and a proven record of process improvement strategies and implementation
  • Planning and organization and PM skills with the ability to coordinate many different project tasks (determines the relative importance of each; prioritizes and plans work activities; sets appropriate deadlines to complete activities accordingly); effectively manages time and resources; sets goals and objectives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to lead groups to a consensus within specified timeframes
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft HR/Finance/Student ERP back-end data structures
  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise data analysis and query tools: Tableau, TOAD, OBIEE, Cognos, PowerBI, Hadoop, R/Python
