The Applications Engineering Department is a high performance, small team. The Navigation Solutions products operate in military embedded real-time systems and can be used in weapons, ground, airborne, maritime, and space environments. Leads, directs, and reviews the work of Engineering professionals. Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions. Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department. Leads, directs and reviews the work of direct report(s) to accomplish near-term operational plans and results. Provides input on hiring, firing, promotion, performance and/or compensation decisions for own organization. In concert with Project Engineer, assigns daily, short-term, and long-term technical tasks to engineers. Maintains outstanding communication with higher management. Meets all programmatic and administrative suspenses. Manages unit-assigned budgets, and forecasts manpower obligations/needs.Qualifications:Position requires a Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with minimum 9 years or a graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years prior related experience.Demonstrated experience in successfully leading/managing projects, processes, and employees as well as strong knowledge within professional discipline.Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams for successful completion of project objectives within stringent technical, schedule, and budget requirements.Demonstrated broad and practical experience in GPS systems and GPS receivers, including Requirements, Hardware, Software, and Test Engineering.Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance.Preferred Additional Skills:Ability to work as both a manager and technical contributor.Ability to work closely with the customer, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines, and meet customer deliveries.Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, and strong EQ/EI.Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
