Part-Time Cleaning / Janitorial Staff

Summary of Opportunity

At our three-story, 43,300 square foot medical building, we are seeking part-time janitorial staff members.

We are hiring one or two experienced janitors and cleaners with a good knowledge of cleaning, cleaning chemicals and supplies, who possess integrity and ability to work independently and as a team.

As a part-time job, this opportunity will provide 15-25 hours of work per week.

Duties

Janitorial Duties include but are not limited to:

- Daily cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors

- Clean, dust, and sanitize countertops of individual office suites

- Take out trash from throughout the entire building

- Clean/ sanitize the restrooms and stock toilet paper, hand soap, and hand towels

- Stock, clean and organize janitorial closets

- Other duties assigned as needed

General Expectations

Work about 20 hours/week, typically from 5 PM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday

Follow directions carefully

Be adaptable to take on new duties

Communicate quickly and clearly, preferably in English

Respond to text messages (using WhatsApp) promptly and communicate problems and needs promptly

Take and share photos recording work accomplished, problems, etc.

If you want additional hours, we might have needs relating to landscaping and parking attendance.

Compensation

$15.50 per hour

Notes about Compensation

Assuming that you will work as our employee, we will pay your workers’ compensation insurance, social security, and other employment fees, and offer benefits like 401(k). These additional employee-related expenses cost us about 12% above and beyond the wage that you are paid. We pay twice a month. So if you are paid $15.50/hour, you cost us $17.36/hour. Your take-home pay will likely be less than $15.50/hour as you will pay income taxes as well as your half of your social security and other payroll expenses, as the law requires.

Other Notes

- We do not pay workers "under the table" or "cash"

- You can expect that this hourly wage will apply to the next year or two (don't expect a raise in six months)

- We pay workers on an hourly basis, not on a "project basis"

- Please do not apply to this ad if you will likely quit or ask for a raise in a few weeks or months; we hope that our work relationship lasts for years

Employee or Contractor?

If hired, you will become a part-time employee unless you satisfy the legal requirements of becoming an independent contractor (such as a trade license, your own worker's compensation insurance, your tools, etc.). Because the State of California has become more rigorous with regard to independent contractors, we are always "by the book" and hire and pay people according to the law.

U.S. work authorization and documentation are required for both classifications. We will run a background check with your permission.
