ShareJOB SUMMARYThe Social Services Case Manager provides social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families. This will be achieved by helping participants within Methodist Children Home Society's various programs resolve issues arising from developmental or emotional issues; ensuring they stay on track to achieve their program goals. This includes helping participants cope with disabilities, behavior management, and mental health issues.DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSServe as a liaison between students, homes, schools, family services, and other contacts to help children who face problems, such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty.

Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems, such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions.

Counsel individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, or medical care.

Develop and review service plans in consultation with school administrative staff and perform follow-ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.

Counsel program participants whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physical impairment indicate a need for assistance, diagnosing participants' problems and arranging for needed service

Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of activities and progress of assigned cases.

Plan and facilitate social-emotional activities to promote a trauma-informed environment.

Maintain case history records and prepare reports.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Children’s Services.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

One (1) year of experience in a residential or inpatient setting working with serious mental health disorders of at-risk youth preferred.

KnowledgeRequirements:Computer and software applications (Windows, MS Office, Internet applications, Parent Connect, etc.) necessary to perform the duties of the position.

State high school and grade school content expectations (HSCE and GLCE)

Methods for providing differentiated instruction to at-risk children.

Student assessment strategies.

The behavior patterns of youth and methods of interacting with and redirecting children.

SkillsandAbilities Needed:Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.

Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins.

Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.

The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

The ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

The ability to Handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

The ability to work flexible hours, when needed, which may include some evenings and weekends.
