St. Mary Mercy has received numerous awards recognizing excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, financial performance and efficiency.GENERAL SUMMARY:Maintains the environment for the Health System by performing environmental duties in accordance with Regulatory Agency Standards, Infection Control, Hospital and Department Policies.

Cleaning all surfaces

Disinfecting all surfaces

Dustings all surfaces

Replenishing all supplies

Spot clean carpet and upholstery

Clean up spills

Change linen and make beds

Operate vacuum cleaning equipment

Dust mop and damp mop floors, stairs and landings

Disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous waste

Report needs for repair of equipment and unsafe situations

Machine scrub corridors and floors

Move

equipment in corridor to properly clean floors

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:High School Diploma and/or GED - Preferred.

Basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.

One to three months on the job training or previous experience, preferred REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read and write English.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Able to demonstrate interpersonal and verbal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and co-workers.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

Prioritize assigned tasks and organize work.

Walk and stand for approximately 90% of work time.

Lift, turn and position equipment.

Bend, twist, turn, stoop and reach 90% of work time.

Able to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time when performing cleaning duties.

Able to lift 40 lbs.

Ability to utilize safe body mechanics. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Patient Care environment with some exposure to potentially infectious body fluids and other contaminants.
