Job Description

The

Maintenance & Recycling Attendant helps ensure compliance with environmental and safety programs by facilitating the Recycling Program and assists with the general maintenance of facilities, equipment, and vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Collects, sorts, and breaks down recyclables.
  • Transports recyclables using company vehicle; Loads recycling containers onto Ranger III vessel.
  • Responsible for the proper and safe operation of recycling equipment including vehicles.
  • Distributes and empties recyclable containers throughout the property.
  • Responsible for training and assisting tam members with the recycling program.
  • Prepares, maintains and submits necessary records of recycled materials.
  • Reports instances of non-conformance by departments of processing procedures for recyclables.
  • Responsible for compliance with safety standards as applicable to the job.
  • Performs general facilities maintenance; Paints buildings, railings, and other property, repairs furniture, unclogs drains, replaces light bulbs, etc.
  • Operates and maintains hand tools including screwdrivers, hammer, steel measuring tape, utility knife, level, pliers, wrenches and socket wrench set, shovels, brooms, step ladders, etc.
  • Uses power-operated tools including nail gun, skill saw, screwdriver, drill, etc.
  • Assists with opening and winterization of facilities.
  • Assists throughout the Maintenance Department as needed.
  • Assists with loading and unloading boats as required.
  • Responds to guest requests and questions; Acts is a professional manner.
  • Follows established safety protocols when operating all tools and equipment, and when applying all products.
  • Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs and policies.
  • Works extra shifts and hours as required.
  • Assists in other positions and departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental policies.
  • Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry skills and knowledge.
  • Knowledge, skills and ability of proper use of hand tools including Able to use hand tools including screwdrivers, hammer, steel measuring tape, utility knife, cordless drill, level, pliers, wrenches and socket wrench set, shovels, brooms, step ladders, etc., and power-operated tools.
  • Ability to learn all company training materials.
  • Good time management, organizational skills including strong attention to detail, follow up and follow through.
  • Honest and trustworthy with company and guest property.
  • Able to work with liquids, gels, cleaners or other products.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

  • Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
  • Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to remain balanced; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, turn, push, pull, finger, grasp, and reach down, forward and overhead frequently.
  • Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to use hand tools including screwdrivers, hammer, steel measuring tape, utility knife, cordless drill, level, pliers, wrenches and socket wrench set, shovels, brooms, step ladders, etc., and power-operated tools.
  • Manual dexterity to grasp and handle paper, phones, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds frequently.
  • Visual acuity to recognize and complete repairs and maintenance.
  • The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, humidity and sometimes inclement weather.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, or previous related work experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Prior facilities maintenance work experience preferred.
  • Prior training and work in painting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and/or carpentry preferred.
