MUST HAVE SANITATION EXPERIENCE

Summary: Under the direct supervision and direction of sanitation management, the Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, supervising sanitation employees, their work activities, and obtain the necessary resources to complete the sanitation process for the food manufacturing facility. These responsibilities are completed in accordance with established occupational safety, GMP’s/food safety, cost, and quality requirements. The Sanitation Supervisor must work proactively and independently to achieve the necessary level of cleanliness required of a food manufacturing facility on a daily basis.

Principal Accountabilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, which includes, but is not limited to the following:

1. Plan and supervise the daily execution of sanitation processes that include the daily and master sanitation schedules, chemical inventories, chemical applications, and documentation/records required be in compliance with SSOP’s, occupational, and food safety.

2. Provides continued knowledge, leadership, and guidance to sanitation leaders and sanitation technicians.

3. Proactively communicate with production supervisors to obtain processing schedules, or production changes to help determine personnel staffing requirements, chemical inventory, sanitation personnel assignments, time constraints, and effective work flow to ensure timely pass-down to production.

4. Have operational knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting chemicals and materials used to remove process residues and impurities from processing equipment, ceilings, evaporators, walls, storage racks, roll up doors, man doors, floors, floor mats, bins, totes, containers, RPC’s, drains or other materials or equipment in the manufacturing facility and/or distribution center per procedures and instructions, and document activities as needed.

5. When it is appropriate and maintenance has provided training, direct Sanitation Leader and Technicians on how to safely disassemble and reassemble parts of machinery to ensure that the equipment is accessible for cleaning and disinfection, and ready for operations. Oversees sanitation equipment maintenance or modification and advises maintenance or appropriate personnel when facility problems are encountered

6. Initiates and coordinates sanitation chemical and materials inventory program

7. Sets a positive example for all Sanitation Leaders and Technicians by following all safety and GMP requirements at all times. Actively promotes the development and advancement of Sanitation Leaders and Technicians.

8. Develops a positive team mentality with other operational departments (i.e. maintenance, production, and human resources) to drive continuous sanitation improvement.

9. Actively participates in the sanitation process by spending approximately 80% to 90% of work time on the production floor engaging with Sanitation Leaders and Technicians, while overseeing sanitation operations that includes the inspection of sanitation work for it proper completion.

10. Cooperates with management to ensure all legal and ethical requirements are met

11. Knowledgeable of Lock Out Tag Out programs and provide guidance to sanitation technicians

12. Able to provide trainings on sanitation subjects such as food safety and employee safety

Required Qualifications:

1. Relevant experience with the process of sanitation within food manufacturing facilities (both food and non-food contact).

2. Working knowledge of chemicals, tools and materials commonly used in the sanitation of food manufacturing facilities.

3. Previous training in the areas of sanitation documentation, regulatory requirements, worker safety, GMP’s and food safety.

4. Requires sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) to effectively communicate with management and complete documentation as necessary.

5. Ability to communicate logically and clearly with sanitation employees. To plan, organize, and create an effective work team.

6. Ability to lead employees through influence.

7. Ability to work in a wet/dry environment where the temperature is as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of 8 hours.

8. Ability to work with changing production to sanitation pass-down times and sanitation to production pass-down times.

9. Ability to remain flexible with shift work hours or day changes.

10. Ability to work 40 or more hours per week, including occasional mandatory overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to rotate shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Three (3) to five (5) years of sanitation supervisor experience working in food processing facilities (both food and non-food contact) whose sanitation programs are evaluated through GFSI assessments

2. Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish
