Job Description

The Dock Attendant assists guests with watercraft and equipment reservations, processes retail purchases and ensures all guests receive excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Greets and assists guests; Maintains a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Works sales floor shifts; Accurately processes guest payments by operating cash register and/or credit card machine.
  • Sells gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, and other marine supplies.
  • Rents marina slips, boats, outboard motors, and canoes.
  • Provides guests with helpful information about the area and where to locate watercraft and equipment.
  • Monitors supplies and submits fuel inventories.
  • Operates sewage pump-out equipment.
  • Clean boats and canoes; Cleans and maintains other equipment rented with boats and canoes such as lifejackets, oars, paddles, etc.
  • Assists in the loading and unloading of supply boats.
  • Ensures the docks and finger piers remain in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs and policies.
  • Works extra shifts and hours as required.
  • Assists in other positions and departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
  • Good math and cash-handling skills.
  • Ability to learn all company training materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

  • Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
  • Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to remain balanced; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, push, pull, finger, grasp, and reach down, forward and overhead repetitively.
  • Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to grasp and handle cash, coins, paper, phones, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds up to ΒΌ mile; 6-gallon gas can fifty yards repetitively.
  • Ability to lift and carry a 9.9 hp. Outboard engine for distances up to 20 feet.
  • Ability to assist others in getting rental boats into and out of the water.
  • Ability to assist docking boats; Ability to catch a thrown line, pull boats alongside the dock and secure mooring lines.
  • Awareness and agility to work on and around boats in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, humidity and sometimes inclement weather.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, or previous related work experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous marina/watercraft experience helpful.
