Data Center Technician

12+ mo. contract | Must be in the Austin area | W2 ONLY The primary scope of this role is to provide effective on-site onsite support for a Data Center in Austin M-F 8-5. This is a hot job and we're looking to close it very soon so we can get the right candidate started!

Responsibilities Installing (Rack & Stack) of equipment including, unpacking, racking, cabling, and conducting basic configuration of OS, network and other parameters. Installing BIOS updates, system updates, and software. Uninstalling and removal of equipment including packaging and coordinating for shipping and/or disposal. Monitoring the operations of equipment in the datacenter for basic operational requirements including power, cooling, and network connectivity using the tools provided. Troubleshooting the performance and conducting adjustments and repairs of equipment. Performing basic cabling and cable management tasks, including ensuring that cabling to the equipment and between the racks is labeled clearly and managed properly to match appropriate industry conventions and safety standards. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment such that equipment, tools, and boxes are not placed in inappropriate or unsafe locations, and that they do not at any time block the walkways, doors, fire exits, or sit in places which would impede proper cooling or create an electrical or fire hazard. Follow standard safety and industry best practices guidelines regarding the lifting of equipment and work around electrical distribution equipment and electronic equipment; Follow the defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the Datacenter and comply with any additional procedures or guidelines provided by the management of the facility in which the Datacenter is located.   • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
Hard-skill requirements
  • Experience with Jira ticket system.
  • Experience working with servers (preferably in a DC environment.) Racking, stacking, cabling, swapping out drives, etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving 'ambers.'
  • In the Austin area.
