Job Description The RTD Research and Early Development Department is in need of an engineer experienced in the development of instruments and software associated with the operation of IVD diagnostic tests running on automated systems. The employee\\\'s primary responsibilities will be in the laboratory. However, the employee will also review, edit, and may help create project documentation (for example, system and architectural diagrams). Candidate should be proficient in executing and documenting test results in a regulated environment. The person hired will focus on laboratory work associated with system and software feasibility testing, including creating and executing DOEs, analyzing the results, and reporting out with a report and presentation to a diverse audience. Laboratory experience and knowledge of Roche Molecular Systems products are desirable. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently as required. The employee will perform tasks as directed by his/her supervisor. Responsibilities • This project is in the Tissue Research group testing the feasibility of future technology. Basically they will be looking at current instruments and how to improve on them. • This person is strictly hardware design and testing oriented, not mechanical • They will use automated test equipment that interacts with software – must be comfortable operating physical test equipment. Equipment they are testing mainly involve fluidics and sensors • They will interact with software on a limited basis so familiarity with almost any software tool is useful. The actual software they use is proprietary so there is no specific software they are required and they will not be programming • Working in an Engineering Lab performing Engineering experiments. No chemical/chemistry background required. • Day to day duties involve Engineering testing – Design of experiment, Running experiment, analyzing data, and writing up results • They do not need FDA experience and won’t necessarily need Medical Device knowledge but would be very helpful • This person can be an intermediate person – ideally they like people with PHD and a few years or Master’s and a few years. If they have a Bachelor sonly they would need to have more years of experience Qualifications • Experimental Design • Prototyping • Six Sigma • Hardware Testing • Data Analysis • Ability to perform prototype instrument/software/system feasibility testing according to instructions from RMS technical staff. • Experience creating DOEs, executing the DOEs, analyzing the data and results, with both a report and presentation given to a large audience as the final output. • Laboratory work experience in the medical device industry or in a laboratory using robotic instruments. • Assists in system troubleshooting issues, and follow-up, as required. • Familiarity with system and architectural diagrams is preferred. • An additional disciplines’ skill such as SW or ME is a plus. • Bachelor\\\'s degree in Engineering. • 1-5 years relevant hardware and/or software testing experience or equivalent combination of education and/or work related experience. • Experience in or knowledge of DOE creation and execution is highly desired.
