TITLE: CONCRETE PUMP OPERATOR REPORTS TO: Pump Driver Foreman
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly Non-Exempt
AUTHORITY: None
JOB PURPOSE:
Drive and pump concrete in a pump truck
Pump concrete from truck at various locations
Operate the pump truck to pump concrete
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations; obey all DOT regulations
Wear PPE as directed
Complete work as assigned by Foreman or Dispatcher
Complete route as quickly as possible while maintaining safety standards
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure that concrete pumps are according to DOT regulations (checking brakes and fluid levels etc.)
Fill water tanks before each project and ensure that all valves are properly secured and shut
Evaluate site conditions and work with contractors or supervisors to park/set up the truck properly
Operate boom and concrete pump to place concrete in desired locations, placing special focus on provided instructions
Load and unload concrete pump attachments and ensure that all associated tools are used in a safe manner
Clean concrete pumps at the end of the day to ensure that they remain in good working condition and to minimize breakdowns and downtimes
Ascertain that all safety and precautionary measures are put into place before, during and after each project
Drive concrete pump trucks to and from each project site in a punctual and responsible manner
Ensure that truck is loaded with material specific for each job
Drive the pump in a safe and conscientious manner to the job site and back to the yard
Operate the pump in a safe and conscientious manner, set up system, and clean out the pump after the job
Light repair of pumps: Some maintenance is required. Know the pump well enough to recognize problems and report them.
Customer relations: Represent the Company through efficient work and courteous service.
Keep unit clean: Keep the pump and truck washed and free of concrete and grease. Keep system free of concrete.
Yard: Return system after use to appropriate location in yard. Keep yard neat and orderly.
Paperwork: Complete and submit pump inspection forms, pump job ticket for each project, and maintenance forms. Keep an accurate timecard of time worked.
Inform service personnel of any vehicle problems in writing
Inform Foreman immediately of any DOT fines or citations
Perform general maintenance on trucks during shift, including but not limited to checking oil, fuel level, tires, and lights
Ensure pump is maintained and cleaned; cab is cleaned daily
Cheerfully greet and talk to customers
Inform Foreman of any potential customer problems or complaints
Immediately report all injuries to Foreman
Perform all tasks and duties assigned by the Foreman
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to meet DOT requirements for hearing and seeing.
Must be able to verbally communicate to others.
Good manual dexterity to climb on and around the pump in all weather conditions common to the area of the country.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds to overhead position.
Must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
Must have the balance and dexterity to maneuver around a construction site and must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Read and understand printed materials and/or means to compensate for such
Comprehend and consistently perform the safety functions of the essential functions
Ability to follow maps and written instructions to locate customer premises
Comprehend reasonable instructions and plan steps to carry out essential functions with minimal supervision
Practice a ‘can-do’ attitude
QUALIFICATIONS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Pass DOT physical exam
Clean driving record; no DUI convictions
Current CDL license
Experience driving in ice, snow and other adverse conditions
Use of basic math for verification of manifest quantity and weight
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work on Saturdays as scheduled
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Outdoor environment, subject to weather conditions
Vehicle traffic; slip/fall hazards
PERSONAL CONDUCT:
