One of the leading financial and insurance institutions in the United States is looking to hire multiple senior-level software / platform architects to join a brand new, co-located modernization team with one of the target locations being in the Phoenix area. This is a slated to be a contract-to-perm role, with a conversion window within the first 6 months. As an architect you will be responsible for designing new cloud-native systems to move them off dated mainframe (db2) and Websphere. You will be working with large-scale complex systems and created shared architectures that will be used across multiple business lines. The ideal candidate will need to be an expert with Java and it's related tools/technologies, databases, and cloud technologies. There is still a strong preference for candidates to be in Phoenix now or at the time of return to office. As per our clients requirements, this role IS NOT open to subvending, C2C, etc. Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in professional software development
  • 3+ years in an architecture function
  • Strong 'Software Engineering' fundamentals
  • Strong knowledge of modern software architectures and integration practices
  • Expert-level Java skills and knowledge of related tools, frameworks, and other technologies
  • Experience with multiple frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, and JPA
  • Exposure to both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with deployment technologies like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Docker
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Experience with microservice and/or event-driven frameworks (SpringBoot, etc.)
  • Previous work on AWS (or other public cloud provider), and big bonus for work on a cloud migration
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Exposure to messaging technologies like RabbitMQ and Kafka
  • Data streaming toolsets like Spark, Flink, etc.
  • Data lake architecture
  • Experience within the financial sector or other highly-regulated industry
  • Knowledge of the legacy systems that you will be moving off of - DB2 and Websphere
  • MS / PhD in Computer Science
The Offer
  • Competitive Pay: Up to $120/hour, DOE
  • Contract Duration: 6 months with intention to convert to FTE
