With increasing number projects ranging from large, medium as well smaller, and more independent projects releasing software to production more frequently under Agile and DevOps methodologies, our organization is looking for a highly experienced Release Manager. Primary goal of the role:To facilitate, track and manage the movement of initiatives through product development life-cycle from Product Vision & Discover, Define Objectives of MVP, Define Feature Functionalities and User Story Refinement, MVP/Design and Development, Launch Readiness and Post-launch maintenance and support. Ensures there’s a proper structure in place to allow the organization to scale efficiently. Experience that we’re looking for: Have led and developed common strategies for release governance across multiple departments.Have led and established consistent release management processes.Have led facilitated cross-department coordination of release management functions.Have implemented, tracked cross-department release calendar.In-depth knowledge of project management from:Managing Project Start-up and IntegrationManaging Project ScopeManaging Project Time/ScheduleManaging Project QualityManaging Project Human ResourcesManaging Project CommunicationManaging Project Risk and MitigationManaging Project Outside Vendors and PartnersStakeholder ManagementHave implemented approach, tools, metrics to measure release cadence and across the entire software portfolio including release-related performance indicators.Have developed standards Release Playbooks and work with key contributors to standardize release decision-making.Analytical and Problem-solvingThe Release Manager must be able to identify and eliminate redundancies at the portfolio level and should be capable of recognizing patterns and opportunities for improvement throughout the entire organization. The Release Manager must have the capacity to understand multi-level failure scenarios that can result from release activities as the role is expected to be a high-level referee for release activities and will get pulled into discussions surrounding release-related downtime and risk. Therefore, the Release Manager should also have proven ability to discern critical from minor problems and innovate new solutions.Communication SkillsThe Release Manager is expected to set the overall standard for release management and governance. Therefore, the Release Manager need to have strong interpersonal skills in areas such as facilitation, negotiation, and working with internal and external voice of customer champions. The Release Manager need to be able to communicate with both management and individual application teams to create an environment where teams understand the shared vision for releases across the enterprise.Leadership SkillsIn this role the Release Manager will be focusing on the details of individual releases as well as on the overall trends across multiple development teams. They must be able to coordinate cross-functional teams toward task completion.Qualifications8+ years of expertise and leadership in Release Management.5+ years strong project management skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery.Experience with automation tools and strong ability to choose the best tools and solutions for the release management function.Experience in governing both waterfall as well as Agile/DevOps project lifecycles.Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience.
