Job Description – ARMS Application Support Analyst

Overview:This contract position will provide support for the Distribution’s Automated Resource Management System (ARMS). It is a software solution called PragmaCAD from the vendor CGI. Extensive training on the PragmaCAD application will be provided. Scope of Support: The current version of ARMS (PragmaCAD) is 6.5 and Distribution is embarking on a project to implement the latest 7.0 version. The current 6.5 solution requires a high level of support and vendor interaction. This contract resource is key to keeping the application stable and allowing the current support staff to focus on the 7.0 upgrade project.

The primary duties will include:
  • Problem analysis and resolution (production support)
  • Root cause analysis
  • Addressing application life cycle management

Specific tasks and activities include:
  • Production support (24X7); 1st line of support /case management
  • Impact analysis (functional, application risk assessment)
  • Manage production deployments, production verification testing and user implementation support
  • User acceptance coordination with customer/bug tracking
  • Troubleshooting and resolving application quality issues
  • Application life cycle management
  • Compliance and change management controls adherence
  • Application vendor interface and support

Education / Experience
  • Four-year college degree with a major in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting vendor applications highly preferred; such as CGI PragmaCAD or other large enterprise solution
  • Experience with Windows Server & supporting Windows Server based applications/platform tools such as IIS or Failover Cluster Manager
  • Conversant in relational databases
  • Experience with Oracle SQL
  • Experience with MQ Series a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft BizTalk or other middleware/Integration Bus platforms a plus
  • Possess a solid understanding of technical environments and software methods
  • Customer service experience either directly or in a support role desired

  • Ability to establish and maintain quality relationships with IT peers and management, vendors, and internal customer groups
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Must be able to manage production support and project-related activities simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision

  • Risk assessment/mitigation skills
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Technical writing skills
  • Ability to gather and document business and functional requirements
  • Ability to estimate project costs and timelines
  • Self-starter and demonstrate initiative
