SummaryJob DescriptionThe position is responsible for architecture, implementation, management, and automation of public cloud offerings, emphasizing Azure as the preferred platform. The position will assist with the initial design, development, and provide cloud training to other members of the team. This person will operate in a single tenant multi subscription cloud environment that consists of assisting with the migration of 100+ internal applications across 4 global private datacenters into an Azure public cloud presence.The engineer is responsible for deploying, designing, configuring, and maintaining most of the implementations in Azure and provides in-depth technical leadership for the Core Infrastructure Services department whilst working with operational support peers to ensure all operational and day-to-day procedures are defined and training conducted when necessary.They are also required to interpret, use and apply information contained within environment to inform on a range of improvement activities, particularly those involved in the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of network security solutions in Azure.Primary Functions And Essential Responsibilities

  • Design architectural standards for Azure cloud services
  • Architect cloud solutions in Azure for IaaS and PaaS
  • Design and implement global management tools and framework for governance and cost controls
  • Architect and develop tools and solutions to integrate, automate, and orchestrate cloud operational needs
  • Automate processes using PowerShell, ARM, JSON, Python and scripting utilities
  • Evaluate and test 3rd party tools and applications to meet objectives
  • Provide mentoring through example, knowledge sharing, and work with entire Infrastructure team to develop cloud skillsets
  • Document architectural standards and processes around those standards
  • Create implementation guidelines and reusable design templates wherever possible
  • Establish engineering and automation objectives for colleagues
  • Consult with internal IT customers on net new and cloud migration initiatives
  • Provide third-level support and provide root cause analysis of issues
  • Maintain security standards in Azure per the Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks
  • Assist with capacity planning
Education:
  • BA or BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Technical Certifications: AZ Family of Certifications
Preferred
  • ITIL Foundation v3 or v4
  • Advanced Technical Certifications: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc
Required Skills:
  • Advanced understanding of hybrid and full cloud infrastructure technologies (Preferably Azure - IaaS, PaaS & SaaS solutions)
  • Experience in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions that leverages cloud best practices for availability and disaster recovery
  • Experience working with open source services
  • Expertise and proficiency in network and security implementation best practices using cloud native offerings to include Azure Application Gateways (AGs) and Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Key Vault (AKV) or AWS equivalent
  • Migration experience moving applications from on-premise to cloud environments
  • Working knowledge of Cloud (IaaS, PaaS) storage as well as VM local and block storage options
  • Private network connectivity implementation experience including (Azure Express Route, or AWS Direct Connect)
  • Solid working knowledge of virtualization, storage, and networking technologies and concepts
  • Solid understanding of various serverless technologies and container-based platforms including Azure Functions, Kubernetes and Docker
  • Broad and deep experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Familiar with benefits of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code as well as tooling such as Helm, Terraform, ARM Templates, etc.
  • Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and collaborate with internal technical and business-oriented teams.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (preferred), Azure Solutions Architect (certification is plus)
  • Knowledge of TOGAF or other architecture frameworks (certification is plus)
  • Experience with Agile, Agile Release Trains or strong aptitude to work in agile environment
  • Must have good verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work constructively in a team environment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision
  • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation
  • Strong customer and results orientation mindset

Experience:
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in an infrastructure system engineering or similar technical role
  • 5 years working in an enterprise level environment designing, building server, storage & network solutions in virtualized environment
  • 2 years of experience implementing private/public and/or hybrid cloud solutions
  • 2 years hands on experience with cloud networking (i.e. VNET, Private Link, Peering, etc.), IAM, IaaS, PaaS, Storage, Container technology, etc.
Preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in an infrastructure system engineering or similar technical role
  • 7+ years working in an enterprise level environment designing, building server, storage & network solutions in virtualized environment
  • 4+ years of experience implementing private/public and/or hybrid cloud solutions
  • 4+ years hands on experience with cloud networking (i.e. VNET, Private Link, Peering, etc.), IAM, IaaS, PaaS, Storage, Container technology, etc.
  • 3 years in a lead position
