Experienced Steel Fabricator / Welder

Steel Systems Installation, an established well respected Quarryville Pennsylvania company, is looking for a full time Experienced Steel Fabricator.

Position Summary:

Success applicant will perform duties in the steel fabrication shop related to all elements of steel fabrication. Duties primarily involve the steel fabrication processes including reading drawings, assembly and welding, also will include operating basic hand tools, component assembly, operating metal fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders that are associated with structural steel fabrication.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Note: Production Manager to assign work based on each person’s individual abilities and performance.

1. Fabrications and welding as per company policies and standards.

2. Cut and detail steel for fabrication.

3. Operate forklift when Material Handler is not available.

4. Perform all aspects of tank manufacture.

5. Load/Offload trucks.

6. Preparation and painting of materials.

7. Maintain a clean, and organized working area.

8. Follow all company safety rules and policies, alerting supervisor of any potential unsafe conditions or situations.

9. Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner, including time cards and material inventory lists.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Skills Required:

Ability to interpret shop drawings.

Basic knowledge of structural steel shapes, sizes, and grades.

Basic reading and writing skills.

Knowledge and respect of shop safety.

Able to perform physically demanding work.

Ability to communicate orally.

Current forklift certification is a plus.

Must have the ability to safely operate overhead cranes.

Physical Capabilities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

This position requires duties to be performed in a shop setting where the temperature may vary and be higher or lower than a normal indoor temperature.

Requires frequent standing, kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, climbing and performing work in overhead areas.

Requires walking considerable distances throughout the facility during the course of his or her shift.

Requires reaching for objects anywhere from floor level to overhead areas.

Depending on the materials and equipment involved, welders may experience exposure to loud noise and/or hazardous chemicals.

The duties of this position are repetitive in nature and both hands must be used to operate tools and manipulate materials.
