Part-Time Maintenance Technician for Solar Meteorological System
Georgia, Ashburn , 31714 Ashburn USA

Vacancy expired!

Job Description

AWS Truepower will be installing a solar monitoring station (SMS) near Ashburn, GA on behalf of one of our clients. The station will be monitoring the solar resource as well as other meteorological and weather related parameters. The stations require regular maintenance to ensure all equipment is level, clean, and that the system is secure and hasn’t been tampered with. The actual footprint of the setup is relatively small (roughly 10’ x 10’) and is surrounded by chain link fence. We are seeking interested and capable part-time candidates to work approximately 2-4 hours per week to perform these tasks. The position requires that maintenance of the SMS be performed once weekly, on the same day and at the approximate same time of day. The exact day is less important, so we can be flexible around someone’s schedule as long as the visits are consistent. Each visit will take approximately 30 minutes. We will also need the weekly logbook sent to us via email along with some photos and any other documentation.

During a two-week period toward the beginning of the measurement period, daily visits (or perhaps every other day) may be necessary to provide initial baseline data for the reference equipment installed at the site.

There may occasionally be additional tasks that the maintenance tech will need to conduct, including uninstalling/installing meteorological sensors, cleaning brush away from the system, and fronting small costs for tools, shipping, etc. that will be reimbursed by AWS Truepower.

Qualifications

No former solar experience is required. Training will be provided either on site or remotely via phone. Technical or scientific interests are a plus.

Capable of completing a work schedule that may occasionally require flexibility, occasionally including time outside of the hour estimate described above.

Capable of providing own transportation to and from remote SMS location (4 wheel drive preferred).

Capable of climbing a small ladder.

Applicant must have computer skills, including ability to upload attachments and work with Microsoft Excel and Word. Applicant must have own version of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). A personal cell phone by which to communicate while on site with AWST staff and to take site photos is required. Applicant must have the ability to treat all applicable information as confidential.

Additional Information

Location: Ashburn, GA

Time Required & Salary: Onsite time should be no more than 15-30 minutes per visit, plus drive time and 30 minutes to one hour of paperwork. Occasionally, one-off tasks at the site may require additional time and effort which will be compensated accordingly at AWST’s judgment. A weekly rate will be determined for this part-time position once we are aware of the qualified candidate’s proximity to the site and any applicable experience.
