Department Summary

The JH Campbell Site Maintenance Department is responsible for the planning, scheduling and execution of online and outage maintenance work in accordance with the Generation Work Management and Outage Management Processes respectively. The JH Campbell Maintenance Department has the overall responsibility to provide and manage site maintenance resources in order to safely and efficiently maintain the site’s generating equipment and associated systems.

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler for the JH Campbell Site will report to the Site Scheduling Lead and will have the:

  • Overall responsibility for planning and scheduling activities associated with on-line work activities.
  • Responsibility for the successful planning of resources and procurement of material to support the Generation Work Management process. These responsibilities include:
    • Planning electrical and mechanical maintenance work orders.
    • Partnering with multiple cross-functional departments to ensure work is planned and ready by appropriate milestones so that work can be committed in the schedule.
  • Responsibility for the daily online and outage scheduling activities that support the plant’s maintenance resources.
  • Responsibility for performing several important functions that include short- and long-term scheduling, SAP coordination, and weekend on-call and relief supervision.
  • This role is critical to the successful execution of the work management process.
  • Responsibility to assist the outage network scheduler by developing weekly and daily work plans that are used to support outages.
  • Works closely with the maintenance and production supervisors of the plant to ensure the safe and efficient use of maintenance resources as it relates to workload demand.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma OR GED.
  • 2-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of planning and scheduling experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technical or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of planning and scheduling experience.
  • Experience in a power plant industry, especially fossil generation.
  • First Line Supervisory experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • Ability to become an SAP expert.
  • Experience with other computer-based software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera P6 or equivalent project management software.
  • Candidates for this position shall have demonstrated communication and team building skills.

Essential Functions

  • Supports the scheduling functions for the Generation Operations area of the Company.
  • Plans and prepares schedules for maintenance and other activities.
  • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each phase to meet the forecasted master schedule.
  • Confers with site management to determine status of projects.
  • Expedites operations that delay and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Assists in communication regarding scheduled work activities and utilizes effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers and clients.
  • Attends internal and external meetings and provides support services in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Provides updates at meetings and conducts presentations.
  • Ability to talk on the Telephone.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to utilize a computer for up to 8+ hours a day.
  • Ability to use multiple applications simultaneously.
  • Follows written and oral work Instructions.
  • Ability to follow Job Aids and Work Instructions.
  • Writing/Taking notes – Ability to write and take notes or fill out forms.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (e.g., copy machine, fax, printer).
  • Responsible for establishing schedules that meet commitments.

Hours and Travel

  • This position requires the individual work 40 plus hours per week with time spent in the office or specific field locations and up to 20% travel.
  • Work may involve multiple shifts and/or unusual hours to support work through various events.
  • Requires employee to participate in an on-call weekend and after-hours support rotation.
  • May require after hours response for both emergent and non-emergent events.
