ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all voice and data network devices (wired and wireless) to ensure appropriate function, security and reliability (availability).
- Maintain all voice and data network systems at the most current, reliable release levels.
- Planning: Conducts short- and long-term planning to meet network requirements.
- Network System Design and Implementation: Designs and implements network systems.
- Configure, deploy and manage network and cyber security platforms
- Hands on and comprehensive understanding of Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, TCP/IP, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching and routing protocols, BGP, VPN (IPSec, SSL), IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, TACACS+, VPN and NAC network security, data circuits, and application specific protocols.
- Hands-on experience with configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of network devices such as Cisco, Palo Alto Firewall
- High level understanding of HTTP, DNS, DHCP, PXE, and other commonly used protocols
- Strong working familiarity with Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
- Network Connectivity: Provides support for network connectivity or related network issues.
- Network Installation: Plans and monitors the installation of network systems.
- Network Monitoring: Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance.
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves network problems. Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performance.
- Capacity Planning: Analyzes facilities bandwidth requirements and system inter-dependencies. Develops capacity planning models.
- Disaster Recovery: Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met.
- Network Performance Assessment: Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides network planning recommendations to management.
- Vendor Management: Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes.
- Knowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools.
- Develop and maintain an effective intrusion detection and prevention system and periodically perform network security vulnerability assessments. Also, provide for appropriate encryption of selected communications.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate disaster recovery plan for voice, data and desktop systems.
- As required, solicit and evaluate proposals from contract providers, selecting the proposals based on the total evaluated cost and performance and manage all related contract work to quality, cost effective completion.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, including drawings, configurations, settings and recovery plans.
- Ensure an effective level or cross training to provide for self or employee absence.
- Maintain familiarity and expertise with new voice, data and desktop technologies.
- Manage the company's local and long distance expenses, periodically competitively bidding them.
- Maintain relationships with related suppliers.
- Secondary duties may include windows server administration and support.
- Understanding of internal control concepts and processes to mitigate risks.
- Attend all company required meetings.
- Additional responsibilities as requested or required.
- ISP, Website & Email Hosting, Co-Location experience
- Knowledge of BGP and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of Palo Alto and CISCO firewall
- Knowledge of DDOS Attacks, mitigation and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems.
- Familiarity with network, server and storage virtualization, i.e. VMWare, vSphere.
- Extensive experience with VOIP
- Advanced knowledge of IOS, EIGRP, BGP, GRE and OSPF.
- Experience and/or certification in Cisco network routing and switching, design or security required.
- Design and implementation of wireless (802.11x), wide area networks.
- Intrusion detection and data encryption technologies and their application in a corporate information environment desired.
- Windows domain administration desired.
- Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English
- Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to sit and work on a computer, looking at a monitor for extended periods of time.
- Availability to work in excess of 40 hours a week including nights and weekends with little to no advance notice.
- Flexibility to cover changing work schedules as needed.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, push and pull.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, engineering or related program and at least five years directly related experience or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, directly related experience and certification beyond minimums will be considered.
