Role GIS Project Manager Duration 2+ Year Contract Location Austin, TX Important Notes

  • Candidate would need to pick up equipment onsite on first day of work in Austin
-Need to find a PM with GIS/Geospatial knowledge experience who ALSO has Scrum Master experience. (right now the developers are doing that and they are all over the place). - looking for very experienced candidates - Doing a lot of work with Geospatial teams and Geospatial data -Would be great PM could also act as the Scrum Master (GIS and Scrum Master experience) Description: The Project Manager is an Information Technology (IT) position and will provide project management skills for implementation of Engineering and Geomatics focused initiatives. These initiatives are best described as engineering applications of GIS based technologies as well as projects concerned with Geomatics technologies and infrastructure This role will primarily interface with the Business Units within a group of in-sourced engineers and technologists, and the vendor(s) performing work to support the ongoing testing, environment deployment, and end-user deployment. The Worker may also be involved in guiding any additional vetting processes and conclusions regarding technology decisions. The Worker shall be responsible for maintaining the timeline for this project, considering technical team work in process limits and coordinating with Business Units for appropriate prioritization/sequencing of necessary work to accomplish software rollout. Further, this individual will work to identify project risks and resolve them before they become issues. Key Activities:
  • Working with IT resources and business resources/groups to implement
  • Reporting / data integration
  • Reporting / data import processes
  • Knowledge transfer to IT support staff including managing the knowledge article creation
  • Manage/Facilitate knowledge transfer via organized change management practices and/or programs
  • The workers responsibilities and skills must include:
  • Experience with general IT SDLC processes.
  • Ability to create and maintain several project artifacts including Project Timeline, Risk & Issue Log,
  • Communication Plan, Stakeholder Register, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Being a creative thinker to solve issues.
  • Mediating business units that may have conflicting requirements.
  • Facilitating and documenting AS-IS and TO-BE process flows
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills:
  • Experience with general IT SDLC processes.
  • Coordinating and managing multiple projects of all sizes on the order of months to years.
  • Familiar with project management principles/practices through all phases as denoted by PMI.
  • GIS application implementation and integration with enterprise systems
  • Geomatics infrastructure or concept exposure as pertaining to state plane coordinate systems and/or real-time correction networks
  • Experience with integration of services with data repositories
  • Integrating SaaS services which offer a platform for applications (e.g. ESRI)
